I'm trying to remove the metal frame from the windshield on my '34 Plymouth so I can replace the gl*** and polish up the frame. The frame seems to be a sandwich of steel on the back, gl*** in the middle, and chrome or stainless on the front. I'm guessing the stainless on the front could be removed to get the gl*** out but I can't seem to separate it. I've tried tapping the chrome front against the bottom of the frame with a mallet and a wood block but it would not budge. I wasn't hitting that hard thought. Anyone have any pointers on tearing these frames down?

It's been over thirty years, but if I remember correctly there are two 90 degree angle pieces that fit inside the corners of the lower and upper frames. I think there are screws that thread into these plates. Remove the screws and the bottom frame should come off the gl*** with some persistent gentle tapping. Please don't hang me if this isn't correct...I'm old. Good luck, Frank

Buford has described the most common ***embly of almost any early car swingout windshield frame in closed cars and pickups.
A lot of PB Blaster or your favorite penetrant and careful work should get you apart.

It looks like someone spot welded the lower inside corners of the frame. I'm going to just cut through the welds and take it apart.
