Heres the deal, I built this this car to take to the Hamb Drags and run the piss out of , because there was no way in hell of me getting my Willys done in time. Now I have a little over 5k and 1 month tied up in it. The car kind of fell together, And I like the hell out of it but its not what I want. I guess here my options 1: Sell it and use the money to finish my Willys engine. 2: Cut the sedan body and weld a coupe body to the pans then sell it. 3: drop some more money in it take it back next year and smoke FlamedABone 4: ???????
Dood, that was one of my favorite cars there. If you don't want it as is I say sell it as is cause it rules.
Option number four...give it to ME! Ha Ha Ha...just kidding...but it looks way cool, I'd keep it and drive the thing everywhere! But, if it's really NOT your bag, then sell it and build something that IS! Sounds like you've got a concrete idea in your head as to what you want...so off the cool sedan and get at it! (Just list in the cl***ifieds here to give HAMBers the first crack at it! )
$5K huh? I think you ought to cut your losses now, before you dump any more money in it. Being the nice guy that I am, I will reimburse you the $5K and take it off your hands. Just because I am a nice guy. Seriously that was one of the coolest cars there. You ran it hard and often and it held up. Noticed you playing with tire pressure etc and it just kept getting better. Couple of blankets over the seats, some Febreeze to get the "been sitting in a barn for 30 yrs" smell out of the old seats, and you are set. I seriously like your car!! It screams hot rod.
Maybe it's the three sizes of carb stacks, or missing front wheels but that car sure sits right. If it is not your cup of tea sell it as is, no sense investing more in something you don't plan to keep.
Dont change it. I bet everybody at the drags took a minimum of 3 photos each of your car. Every person that I have had look at my photos said that sedan is cool.Enjoyed meeting you. What is your selling price????
The 40 Ford was the best looking old Ford made. The sedan is a lot more useful than a coupe. If you dont want it, lots of people do!
Whatever way you go it was hell getting a picture of you car. Everytime I tried there was someone all over the damn thing. That was the best one I could get.
Very sweet ride...That's what I am lookin for now. Some of us have a family that wants to cruise in style too.. My little T just isn't big enough. Throw it up for a HAMB auction, then use the funds for your other project..EVILT
Just leave it alone. Drive it the way it is. The car looks cool right now. Take the time to build your Willys. Then maybe worry about this car.
8th grade genius, wondered what happened to you. weren't you building the Hemi with Hilborn? injection on a blower for the street? hows that one coming? Ford looks *****in by the way. Paul
car looks great. quick spray it flat black and sell it on ebay for 10 grand if not more. due to the recent shows on tv rat rods are getting 2/3 the price of the same finished car with less then 1/4 of the work into them. if the willys is the car you want that one will bring you plenty of money to help finish it.
What Slag Custom said.....I don't care for the 40 sedan but love the coupes. If I already had a Willys I needed finances to finish, I'd slap a 10K reserve on it and pop it on e-bay. Don't forget to say it ran 14.46 at the HAMB drags when you give your description in the ad...
That car was cool. I'd say paint it red oxide or black and put it on ebay if you're looking for money to finish that Willys. By the way...I p***ed Willy Sunday afternoon headed back toward Joplin in the 48, truck and trailer behind. What happened?
The return trip was just a lack of communication, Willy had to back the hell up to meet us at tha Mexican Restaurant. OOps
i was impressed by how you used the tracktime to work out the carb problems and how, by the end of the night, that thing was sounding nice and crisp! if you sell it, i hope whoever buys it, leaves the body just the way it is, red front end and all...mf
Thanks for all the input. Like I said this car kind of fell together and looks like it still is. Last night a guy I work with upped a set of Dart Iron Eagle heads for a song. I sent them to the machine shop this afternoon. the heads came with roller rockers, 7/16 studs, guide plates and 2.08 intake valves and 1.6 exhaust valves. Today he told me to swing by and pick up the rev kit. So it looks like option 3 has kinda forced itself on me. Looks like the Willys will have to wait just a little while longer. Thanks again for the input and words of approval.
