1965 Buick Riveria-Rust Repair

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Richard D, Jan 31, 2009.

  1. Took my car up to Joe(Houtex63)for some repair work.
    Before:

    Nasty cancer.
The corner was the worst, but is was in spots all around the window.

Buddy removed the rear gl***, bent up some new steel on the brake, and welded it in. Then coated the whole window area with POR15. I wish I'd had my camera.
    Here's the after shots:

There is a tiny spot where the lead melted from the welding, so there is a small bit of filler to smooth it up, but it's all metal underneath. Should be good for another 45 years.

    The removed tumor.

  2. Went back yesterday to put the rear window back in. Don't pay a gl*** shop $125-$200 like I was quoted, get a $20 rope seal from a real auto parts store, ist's easy to do.

    Fitting the trim:

These guys do good work, reasonable prices. Give them a call if you are in Houston and need work. They specialize in framework, suspension, esp. '47-'54 Chevys.
