my pile of junk is nearing the stage where i should start hunting a ***le for it.... but here's the deal... i hoping this thing resembles something built sometime in the 60's, so i thought it would be kinda cool to run a YOM plate from that time. finding a ***le from something of that era shouldn't be to hard, but can i do this?? i've built every part of this junker, and it's made up of parts from many different cars, so do i HAVE to ***le it as a 33? could i ***le it as a 60 merc since that's where the bed came from? or a 56 olds since that's where the dash came from? or mabye a 62 ford just because i have some nice 62 plates?? any ideas on this?? homebuilt frame, 57 motor, s-10 trans/rear.... 33 ford ***les are a premium and i'm a cheapo...watcha think?
Unless you can get a 33 Ford ***le for under $200, don't do it. That being said, you could reasonably use any Ford pickup ***le from 1930-1940. You should be able to pick up a good "historical do***ent" for $100-$150 and then transfer it into your name.
My thinking is if you get it done and don't have to go thru a pre inspection ( green sheet ) and don't have to have a Trooper are city Officer check any numbers you might pull it off. Some guys have the real license plate in the car and run the year they want on the car. Lot a folks have not been stoped yet. ???????????? What if you run accross an officer that is looking at your car and knows the difference. IMHO
The very reason why I got an Alabama recipt for a '29 A roadster. A lot of the Troopers here in Texas are hot rodders themselves and will know a '29 when they see one. Thanks, Mike
Mine is built out of a 26 and a 28, could have averaged it out as a 27. Anyhow it looks more like a 26, and is ***led as such. Still nobody knows what the heck it is out here, and you can tell anybody within a 20 year range and for the most part, they go OK.
