DANNY'S TIP OF THE DAY: get in good with your local machine shop. when i found out that 18" ford wires were 3 1/2 " wide i decided that i had to find a way to widen them.the laith that i have wont swing that big of a wheel, luckly my local machine shop does.over the years i have done some welding for them, and they were nice enough to let me use their machine after hours to cut the wheels apart.(thanks morgan performance) so here are some pictures of the progress, hope ya'll like them. more to come, when i can break away. -danny http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/brucesrodshop@sbcglobal.net/album?.dir=b4fescd
That's awesome work. I guess the key to keeping them balanced is in making perfectly square cuts (on the wheels & filler strip) & clamping them perfectly for welding. I'm just curious, how many hours do you have in the pair? JH
i have about 6 hours in the pair.the second one took less time than the first.partting the rim edge off on a machine gives you a true edge to work with.i then use 1.5x.125 steel strap from my steel supplier,so it has a nice straight edge.i then roll it in a circle. glad ya'll like it. -danny
this may be a stupid question, But do they make a 18" tire for that wide of a rim. It seems like a pretty limited selection of tires in 18's Very well done though, and that is a very nice cab. keep up the good work. cheers
i'm planning to run 7.00-18,untill coker releases the 8.20-18 dirt track the first of next year.both tires will work on a 4 3/4" wheel. by the way it wasn't a stupid question. -danny
