Once again the streetrodder bill is up in NY. Please follow the link and email your representatives in support of this bill. http://www.semasan.com/main/main.aspx?id=62252
The bill (A.B. 2429) defines a street rod as an ALTERED vehicle manufactured before 1949 and a custom as an altered vehicle at least 25 years old and manufactured after 1948. A.B. 2429 provides that vehicles ***led and registered as street rods and custom vehicles may only be used for OCCASIONAL transportation, exhibitions, club activities, parades, tours, etc. and not for general daily transportation. Normally, I just shrug these "alerts" off, but this one is bizarre/stupid. First, what is the definition of..."altered"? Second, what is the definition of "occasional"? Is adding different wheels/tires to a bone stock car, "altered" and therefore must fall into this category? Is "occasional" a car driven once a week or once every hour or what? Without any specifics to answer these questions, then who will determine which car would fall under this law? Not defining "altered" or "occasional" is the same as not defining "stupid".
They're at it again and won't stop. Medical science has yet to find a cure for stupidity - and that is the basic qualification you need to be a politician.

Still doesn't answer the question. Who defines what a tour is or a club activity....just not specific enough to be enforcable, therefore worthtless.
Cool, I guess that means I have a custom altered 55 chevy instead of just an old hotrod. ****in people in Albany again. Prius driven, tofu fartin, tree huggin ***holes.
This proposed law is the same one that has been approved by many states across the country. This only applies to parts built vehicles with no original ***le or vin #'s. If you have an original '32 that's hot rodded, it has nothing to do with you. The trip police aren't going to ask you where you are going. This will allow people to build cars from scratch without have to add bogus safety and emission equipment as with the current system of registering a homebuilt vehicle. If you have a correct vin number and want to get regular plates, then it's business as usual. If you read the bill word for word, you will see that it only applies to a new registration applications and you want to utilize the street rod/custom plate program.
