I just picked up a 57 chevy rear end with a transverse spring set up on it. Perch to perch measures 46 1/2 inches. Looks like a 40 style spring, just a gradual arch, was under a 32 roadster. will a Model A spring fit on these perches?

Here are some pics. If I mounted it on normal A spring perch locations, the tires would rum. Axle is 60in drum to drum.

  8. Why not use the spring you have along with a flat crossmember?

    Something like this - 31 A on 32 frame.

The car will sit low enough without a major "Z".

I have a nice A spring, and this 40 spring is rough, with the top leaf broken in half. I also don't want to cut my subrails, I don't want to Z my frame, and it looks like the A spring sits lower than the 40 spring. Am I right?
