I hate unrelated death posts on here, but for a lot of guys I know, including me, The Cramps go hand-in-hand with hot rods. I guess I didn't know he was sick. I sure didn't think of him as being 62!!!

Lux Interior, lead singer for the legendary underground punkabilly band the Cramps, passed away this week at age 62 from a longstanding heart condition. "Lux was a fearless frontman who transformed every stage he stepped on into a place of passion, abandon, and true freedom. He is a rare icon who will be missed dearly," the Cramps' publicist said in an official statement. Lux will be dearly missed, and we send our condolences to his bandmate and soulmate of more than 30 years, guitar-wielding vixen Ivy Rorschach. Their partnership was one of the great rock 'n' roll romances of the ages.

    Bummer.

Even though I don't remember them so well, I spent more than one Halloween at a Cramps show. First one was in 1988. Damn. Goodbye caveman.

I searched and thought it was strange that nobody had posted it yet. I mean, shit, it seems like if a fucking roadie for some '80s hair band dies, 400 people get on here and act like the guy was fucking Rosa Parks. Great, now I'm one of those guys.

Now if my fish dies I'll have to ask for people to set up candle-lit shrines to it. Damn!

Lux was hot rod all the way!

I listen to alot of this in the shed, route 66, whats inside a girl, lets get fu(&ed up, faster pussycat , surfin dead etc etc are frequently played loud in my street.

its amazing such a wild person lived to that age, i like the combo of rockabilly, surf and punk and the little acts between him and ivy in the video clips.

  18. Ain't never gonna be another Lux...sad news.
Best kinda music to have blasting in your shed while you're grinding steel...LOUD!

To those who oversee please leave this up,,you have to admit this music was /is truly a part of the car culture due to all the threads about it.

  20. Right on Kirk, I was not into the Cramps untill I realized Rockabilly was my first music passion, then The Cramps, Mike Ness, and others that were alternative but roots style came into my scope. Lux was a great showman who was as straight as an Alex Gambino metal finished car, but could get all jiggy and it seemed ok. R.I.P. brother-~Sololobo~

  23. Kirk, maybe because you started this thread it will stay up. There were at least 4 previous ones that didn't last. But a thousand "what's it worth" and van, COE and mid '60's pick-up posts will be here forever. Sometimes I just don't get it. The Cramps owned cars, wrote about cars and revived rockabilly all by themselves. Nuff said...

So... How many of the young guys would have they're hair slicked back, and jeans cuffed without The Cramps? I've always described their music as punk if it had been created in 1957. We wouldn't ever had to here the F'in' Beatles! R.I.P. Lux, you will be missed in my shop!

  28. :( Cried "like a bad girl should"

  29. Gee I wonder if my cramps record is worth more than your cassette. Its got original scratches that were put there in the eighties!! Just kidding
