Any Upstate NY HAMBers

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 345 DeSoto, Feb 8, 2009.

  1. Just curious...Any Upstate NY (like the Central NY Syracuse area) HAMBers? I spend the Winters in FL, and have run into a bunch down here. Just looking to see if Upstate NY is TOTALLY abandoned. Summer is coming, and would like to run into some kindred spirits...

Yeah, I'm stuck up here about 1 hour from Binghamton on I-88 towards Albany. Waiting for warmer weather and to get my new engine done, but neither one is coming fast enough

I'm near Delhi in Delaware County. Will get back to work on my 53 Tin Woody body in the spring. Have the motor in the shop for the winter and am accumulating trim, etc. Hopefully together by August. Ken

I was at the Rolling Bones party last night ( about as upstate as you can get) and there were probably more than 100 hotrodders there. Some even had their cars.

I'm up in Montgomery NY not quite that far upstate only about an hour and a

    half from NYC.

  9. I always hated that expression / moniker... I grew up 20 miles from Penn border, yet I was an "Upstater".. Of course, with Arkansas as an adoptive home base now, I am a "Damn" Yankee ("Damn" is one who will not go back).. Living in Japan, am a "Gaijin" (foreigner).. .

I'm in Brewerton, NY. About 15-20 miles north of Syracuse up 81. I'm about to lose my job here at Magna shithole, New Process Gear. they gave us a good 5-year fuckin. I've almost just about had it with Syracuse but don't really have the balls to leave and my wife doesn't want to move either. We'll make it somehow, someway.

There's great food and a band playing for free inside the resturant. We give away all kinds of cool prizes for just showing up. We have all kinds of cool stuff that show up for sale.We do this once a month,Sunday, February 22, 2009 from 3-7pm Wheels Roadhouse Route 434, #3000 Apalchin New York 13732 Hope to See you there!! We're having a Big Traditional pre-68 car show October 17 We've rounded up a buch of people from upsate NY and PA. Check out our website. www.powerandnoise.com

Seriously, We welcome you guys to come down. Skyview Drags is a blast!!! Hey we test and tune our wacky projects all the time up at Skyview Drags on Friday nights. It is only $15 and all you need is a helmet and no major fluid leaks. You can make as many passes as you can squeeze in. Sometimes driving in we bottom out our jalopies on the rough road coming into the strip. If your up for a ride, come down and we'll lots of fun. It is great to see rods like ours making passes the crowd loves it becasue it's not your usual tubbed cars. It is also cool to see what motors can do. We also bring a ton of tools and the garage/barn is real close if you have a major break down. We can get you back on the road. If we get our 4 banger and straight six project rail jobs done this summer, we might even let you take a tear down the strip. We're in an out of town all summer hitting the road but give us a heads up. Here's the flyer to our big show and to our Feb 22 swap meet and some pics of the inside of Wheels Roadhouse. The place is pure hotrodding and motorcyles. Joe www.powerandnosie.com

I would like to see Skyview Dragstip hold a nostalgia gasser event. It looks like a real nice facility and I hope to make the trip there this summer. Wish there was a track like that in my area.:)
