Here's a craigslist post from Sacramento, CA. I've seen cars that look worse at shows. I think we're spoiled. http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/1021861317.html <O</O <O></O>
Read what I said. It might be too far gone for you, but there are tons on here that COULD bring it back,,,,,, WOULD might be another issue.
I drove in demo derbies for 13 years. These would be great cars, but even the derby rules have changed. I believe national rules only allow newer than 1969 now. Always thought these were beautiful wagons.
Mechanicals are easy, rusty metal is not, missing gl*** is a *****, missing trim is sometimes impossible. Just some food for thought...
This doesn't look too bad, at least rust wise. The body has collapsed because the wood is all rotted away. Looks like a 29 - 31 Chevy, which had ALOT of wood framing in the body.
Sad thing is the dude probably broke all the gl*** out with a hammer and pried all the trim off with a screwdriver and threw it away. '60 Ford is one of the coolest wagon designs of the era, this is a complete waste. Demo derbies are for ***s. Smash up some 80's **** for crying out loud.
It is all relative. Depends on how much you love the item and how damn determined you are to make it work.
I would derb the hell out of them, if they were $50 or less for the both, delivered. Then again, I have no desire to do anything with almost any wagon, ever. Especially those things.
There is no such thing as too far gone.. As long as you put the time, effort,,and the proper cuss words into it, you can fix just about anything. And if that fails, you can always look toward duct tape and super glue!!!! Lol.
Exactly. Too far gone for me is more than the bottom 3"-4" of the doors, cowl, and quarters rusted totally away, or major portions of the body totally missing. If they make patch panels for it, or the contours are simple enough for me to fab the patch, I'll tackle it. Too far gone for Jim Sibley or FlamedABone is a pile of rust flakes who's total m*** is lower than that of the original car (and that's just 'cause the smaller pile wouldn't contain enough atoms in total to reconstruct the full car, if they don't need hood sides or something like that, all bets are off ). Too far gone for one of my less mechanically inclined buddies is a the presence of any rust holes at all.
