Glad to see the gal involved.

Maybe I should shove my old lady in the cold garage? But if I do and it pisses her off, I don't think I want her to have anything that could cut pieces of me off.

You ain't kiddin'! I think my first words were "What the **** have I done?!?" After a few deep breaths, i formulated a plan of attack, and I am remaining calm :)

HA! My garage's got heat, so she doesn't complain. Yeah you definately don't want mention anything questionable to her if she's got a cut-off wheel in hand!

I keep meticulous photo do***entation on all my cars. I have my O/T race car photographed from the day i put it on the trailer to bring it home 5 years ago to as recent as this past summer when she went 10.20 @ 127mph :)

I'll be sure to keep posting them. I got some more from today I'll add shortly.

Here are a few from today. I basically just eased out the A pillars by cutting slits (photo), then tacked them it. I kept an angle finder on the roof to make sure my rake was toward the back and not the front, and a level on the center of the roof. I leveled the car prior to this whole project, to make my life easier. So far the only problem i ran into was i took too much off the B pillers (stupid, stupid, stupid). No worries, I have all the metal i took off, so i can add it back just as easy. Live and learn I guess. On the last pictures I taped the door tops on to the body to get a feel for the flow. I think its just right. 3 1/2" on the A pillar, 4" on the C pillar. What do you guys think about the flow so far?

Looking good bro! Keep us posted. Love seeing another 4 door by the way.

  12. I know your car quite well from the HAMB and envy the stance and the flow of it. I will definately turn to you for any questions. I don't know if this is anti-HAMB, but i am going to eliminate the rear vent windows, what do you think of that?[/quote]

Im with ya on the vent windows. If you keep the moredoors I would shed the vent window on the rear but Im partial to keeping them on the front. ETHER

Looks like you have a great chop going. Keep taking your time and it will turn out great. From what you said you saved all the parts you cut out from the chop. Good idea!!! i saved all of mine but ended not using them but was able to help out another guy that bought a messed up project so he used them you never know when you will need them.

    UPDATE:

I spent today tacking in the C pillars and beginning to relocate the B pillars. I hope this is right! I spent a bunch of time stepping back and "looking" at the lines more than anything. I am going to do the other side tomorrrow, then i guess do the door tops. I haven't touched the rear window yet, but i guess there isn't a real "order" in which to do things at this point. Comments? Suggestions? I'm all ears!

No babies yet for us....basically for that reason. We know when you have kids your car life together drastically changes.
I was always fascinated by the suicide door Merc, and i finally got one, so i'm living my dream. Woohoo!

Today i decided to tackle the door tops on the p***enger side. Funny how i thought this would be the easy part. It was actually a lot of work and tons of cuts (probably could have made fewer cuts had this not be my first time). It took me about 5 hours to get it all tacked in to place. I found that on the "lines" i had to finish grind the welds so i could verify the flow and uniformity. Here are a few new pics from today:

Damn BigTony...get that woman some eye protection! She sat with me in the ER as they dug out rusty slag out of my eye that faithful day, so ever since then we've really been **** about PPE (personal protective equipment).

Thanks for the compliments guys. To hear that I'm making it look easy really boosts my moral with this project.

I keep meticulous photo do***entation, so every day i work on it, i dump the camera on my pc and throw them up on this thread.

I generally work on the car sundays and mondays, as these are my days off. Thanks sooo much for the support!
