Today I was stopped at a light and two sorry looking dudes in a beat-up Saturn sedan rolled up behind me and HIT ME!! The car lurched forward and I turned around and yelled WTF! They looked blitz'd and had no clue that they just rammed my roadster. I signaled for them to pull over so we could look at the damage but as the light turned green they pulled around and sped off. Got their plate #. Apparently, they liked my rod so much they decided to keep getting closer...

Fortunately their plastic bumper absorbed most of the shock and they hit my tire and rear nerf bars. Not bad - mostly just scratched up my chrome. Still, this was a very alarming experience! Makes me think twice about driving my kids around...

    Anything similar happen to you?

They sped off in a Saturn? I might have not been as calm as you.

That's a sweet li'l roadster you got there. Had some guy do the same to my '40 Ford Sedan Delivery - I was stopped at a stoplight at the bottom of a hill and he rolled into the N.O.S. bumper I had put on a week earlier. Lucky it was a Henry and not repro or it might have bent.

Sorry to hear your tale - but, it could have been worse, so be thankful it wasn't.

I always wonder how you cannot see a car like that in front of you? Looks great, sorry to hear the misfortune.

Pulled into you from the side, eh?
Well, that is a typical dumb*** stunt, shame you weren't armed!
They didn't have insurance anyway, I'm sure.

I say public castration would be a fitting punishment.

Probably no insurance... If that's the case, tell them they did $30,000 damage to a million dollar car... That should cause them a few sleepless nights :p

Oh yea, be sure to tell 'em about your whip-lash... Leaving the scene of an accident where injuries were caused is a cl*** B felony.... 1 to 5 years.

That really stinks. You got the tag #, you can find out where he lives.

  15. I had JUST finished my 34 3W and was on my way back home from filling up at the Gas Station...4 miles on the car. Was stopped on the road to turn left (blinker on!) and some old lady who had fallen asleep at the wheel slammed into me from behind, doing 55-65 mph. Took another 2 years to put back together...

  16. I'm afraid I'd be in jail right now if it happened to me. The saturn would be toast, the punks lucky to be in the hospital.

Beautiful car! Ain't that the way it goes though, a bunch of trailer park losers in a POS tag your car and drive off, glad it didn't do any real damage.

I know it doesn't help any, and don't want to hijack your thread, but a similar thing happend to us. I'd just gotten a new pickup, '94 Dodge Ram, we were camping and our son, then a senior in high school, drove it home for something. At the corner, a quartermile from home, the backup lights on the van ahead of him a the stop came on, and it rocketed backwards into the front of my truck, buckled the hood, broke the grill, headlights, bent the bumper, and buckled both fenders, then drove away.

Stunned, he followed them, memorized the plate #, then went back home and called the police. Shortly, the police called us to relate they had found the driver, still in the running van, in the owners driveway, p***ed out, and she blew a .30!! The van had no insurance, the plates belonged to them, but not registered to that vehicle. MI is "No Fault", so the truck was fixed, and the van driver got a free ride in a police car and jail!

  24. I am so afaid of that happening to me. However I am even more afaid of something failing on my car and I hit someone else or just makin' a dumb mistake especially at a rod run. I know this must happen especially at the big events.

I was going to the motel from the street rod nationals. There was a '40 Ford Coupe, probably worth 3 times what my '31 was worth, directly in front of me. There was a right turn lane to get on the freeway. I pulled into the right turn lane but held back in case the '40 wanted in. Since he didn't switch lanes, I accelerated to p*** when he suddenly swerved into my lane. I stood on the brakes and he must have heard me skidding because he shot back into his lane. He had a female p***enger so I guess they weren't paying attention.
