Depends on what you call "a decent price"...I find it hard to spend $170.00 a tire, but then again my son accuses me of still living in the 70's...

I've had Diamondback tires on my ol' '40 Stude for a long time...would highly recommend them...and will choke down the cost again to put them on my Caddy...

But, if you find some priced way back in the 1970's, let me know...

The line is uniform because that's how the white layer is laid on the carc*** when the tires are made. Just like a wide white! It's just a wide white sidewall, mostly covered with a thin black layer to leave the skinny white (or white letters, depending) revealed.

These (on the front) are UniRoyals. 225/75R15's. The rears are BF Goodrich, they are light truck, had big white letters, much bigger whitewall, and much bigger tires, 235/75R15's. TALL and wide.

Michelons as a rule can't be shaved, at least that's what my experience. I did try a Michelon I had from my T'Bird, too much material has to be removed, at least on the tires I had. Most however just use a very thin layer of black rubber, which you can cut off. The disadvantage over "real" wide whites is that the wite doesn't extend down the sidewall into the bead, so you see a ring of black right around the rim. Hey, on my 'vert, which is a driver, who cares? Here's a photo of the 'real' Coker on the Fordillac to illustrate.

I have a buddy who owns a big auto recycler here, tires are cheap, and I like to save $$.:D I stepped up to the window for Cokers on the Fordillac, I wanted bias plys, not radials on a fenderless car.

No Prob........Just wish I had the balls to try it on the tires I have now. My luck is I'll take off too much and then it is blow out city while cruising one night.

Brian thanks for posting the brand. My kid wants www but buying them is FAR out of her buget. She has a Coker catalog she looks at like a Sears Christmas wishbook, but although a good price, not a 16 year olds pricerange.

Give Big-O Tires a call. I got a set of ww radials at the SEMA show from them at the silent auction. Great tires, Diamond pattern on side, very vintage looking. Here is a picture of my 62 Stude Lark Daytona with them on.

Yeah, but the Coker 7.50x16's I bought for the Fordillac were 250 apiece, a HAMB discount isn't gonna make them fit a 16 year olds budget like a set of used white letter tires from the salvage yard for 100 bucks for a set of 4, with the mold ******s still on 'em.

All salvage yards sell the take off tires, it's hard now to find 15's and 14's, but they're out there.

As an after thought, the fronts are Coker motorsickle tires I scored on ebay, brand new, for 100 for the pair, so that sort of offset the steep price for the rears. They're 5.00x16's, whitewall on both sides, which I thought looks pretty cool.

If you want wide whitewalls but are on a budget consider our Coker Cl***ic bias ply tires. These tire start at $119.00 each. There are many sizes available from 14” up to 16”. We have been producing this line of tires for at least 30 years and they are made in the USA. See page 30 of our 2009 catalog.

    Thanks,

    Jess

  22. I have Goodyear tires on my truck from Kelsey tire in Camdenton MO. the white walls on them are the easiest to keep clean of any of the brands that I have tried. Kelsey has a toll free number that you can get by calling toll free information.

  23. You're only a few miles from the Southwest distributor for Coker tire.

Go down there! They have tons of tires in stock so you can see them first hand.

I'm an Alliance member and I still ended up getting my BFG Silvertowns from these guys. Ask for Sam. I told him about the discount I got from Coker for the H.A.M.B alliance membership and he worked his best deal.
