I'm looking for a good street cam for a basicly stock 302. I'm not lookin to build a drag car, but something to pep up a basicly stock 302. It'l be in a good sized car (fairlane) Hydrolic lifters, 3.73 gears, offy dual port intake and holley 650 carb. I want it to have a good choppy idle, and help with low-mid range power. I won't be home for a couple of weeks to get the # off my cam. I e-mailed comp cams and told them just what I wanted. They recommened their cam #. Its been in my Merc (302) for 2 years now and is doing a great job.
This is a good cam for the rest of your combo, it's what I have in my 302 in my '54 Sedan.Go to www.summitracing.com and put this part# in search SUM-K3600 (you will love the price) this has the same specs as the Ford Motorsports cam that sells for $139.95 for just the cam.Strong bottom end and midrange power will sound healthy with Cherry Bombs or Smittys.I figure you are running stock 302 heads and valve springs so this is all the lift you can handle before you get into HP springs and special length pushrods.Also since I am an 'Ol Fart and sold that Offy Dual-Port when they were a new item, if you get too crazy on cam duration it will run like crap.The other thing I like about this cam is the split duration and lift,small block Ford heads don't flow well on the exhaust side and the extra exhaust lift and duration will help overcome that You can always buy a COMP sticker
Can you please repost the part number for the cam. For some reason it doesn't show up anymore. Anyone else have any suggestions also.

Now would be a good time to upgrade to a hydraulic roller setup. Automatic or stick shift setup in your car? Stock heads or better ? If automatic stock convertor? Power brakes or manual? Early Fairlane or late model could be a big difference in car weight. Then can give you a recommendation.
I have a stock engine out of a 1987 F150 truck. Not sure if its got hydraulic rollers now or not. From what I have read this engine should have E7 heads but it is stock all the way. I'm putting it in a 30 Model A Coupe with a C4 tranny and a 3.73 rear axle.. Running a Holley 600 Carb ( and this may be to much Carb for a stock 302??).. I'm not racing just normal driving 90% of the time. I don't want to sink a lot of money into it but would like a nice sounding and running engine.. I thought about roller rockers and lifters just to add a little more power.
From what I understand all 1986 up ford 302s will accept hydraulic rollers even if them came flat tappet.

That's a perfectly fine motor. E7TE heads were used on the 87-up 5.0 Mustangs and are good for around 9-1 compression. Look for a cam around 450" lift. Edelbrock's Performer is just fine. Should put you right around 250-260 HP at the crank if you add cam and 4bbl. It's not, but if he was able to use the cam, got to remember the H.O.'s use the 351W firing order.

Me too. It went from a Fairlane to a Model A. One post for each application please. A light car like a Model A with a 302 would take a whole different combo than say a 58 Fairlane 4 door wagon.
