Im about to bag my 1962 cadillac coupe deville. I was looking down there and it doesnt look like that much travel in the front end. Ive read that they cant get that low with out cutting or C' notching the front end. They do not make drop spindles for it too. The bottom front arm has about 4 inches till it hits the frame. does anybody have a picture of a 61 or 62 cadillac lay'ed out, bagged, with no air, that is not notched or cut? I want to see how low it can get with out too much or no cutting. Thanks.
they will lay the oil pans before the frame. build up the front cross member so they hit at the same time. it depends on what size tire your using also. ive got g-78's on mine. no cutting and lays all the way down. ive done quite a few and for some reason some require a little out of the rear floor for drive shaft clearence if you want to drive it really low. black one is 62 blue one is a 63. same frames.
thanks, sounds good. thanks for the tip on the oil pan. I will be sure to shim the cross member so it will not lay oil pan. So what your are saying is that I will have more problems with the rear drive shaft? What size tire do you recommend? I have 235/75/15 on there right now. They are bad and I will need a new set. Thanks again,
Do it the cheap, no drama way. Heat the front coils , blocking it off as it goes down. Save thousands. Avoid drama. There are enough coils on a Cadillac front end. Unless you want to post endlessly about relays, bags, and all the things a daily driver has no dealings with. Ray in Ct Cadillac every day
do your self a HUGE favor and use the slam specialties bags. You will have to trim the spring pocket to fot the bag in front, but they rock. I cut a coil out of my 62 and the sonf of a bitch was so floppy afterwards I had to bag it. Bags are a pain in the ass though. Ill never do it again.
"caddy-o is that thing even driveable? Looks really low for not having bags." I've been able to manage it pretty well within the city, just have to take it slow across dips and drive ways. Once I hit the open road everything is fine.
