So Ive been all over the place trying to find some used or new replacement bumpers for my tempest and have had no luck . I started looking at the 1st gen camaro bumpers and they seem to be a good alternative. Im sure the mounting points will be different but they are both thin bumpers.

The rear is pretty much the same shape.
The front has a point in the middle.
I dont know if the width of the car is the same
Im sure if the width can accommodate it , some work to the mounting brackets will need to take place.

What do you guys think? or can you point me in the direction to get some replacement bumpers for this tempest. Theyre so hard to find.

    heres some pics for reference

yes sir. Lemans is the same . 61-62 are the same as well.

I just found out the 1st gen camaro is 72.3" wide measured at the bumpers
The tempest is 72.2" wide measured at the bumpers as well.

Seeing that there isnt much for these cars I just registered a site for them that I will load with all the information I can find :)

Let me know how much you would like for the bumpers. Thanks

  4. You know what would look really cool on that car-- split bumperettes like on the '63 1/2-'67 Vette.

There may still be a '61 wagon in a junk yard around Bella Vista, Arkansas. Sorry that's so vague but it's been a while. I took the front grill and headlights.

Do you have bumpers now? Are they beat up or rusted? If you do have a set, depending on their condition they may be savable. If you don't have any bumpers, you could try East West Auto Parts in Tulsa, they specialize in 1961-1963 Tempests. They have good parts but aren't going to give you a bargain.

There's a pretty active early Tempest group on the Performance Years Pontiac website, you can also try there (for some reason their site is down tonight, try tomorrow.)

Hey Chemik, I have been seeing a '69 camaro rear bumper listed on dallas craigslist for a couple of weeks, last time I saw it the guy was asking 20 bucks and it looked pretty straight. Cheap enough to give it a try.

hey thanks for the help guys.

sasrod, I have tried emailing the guy but my emails come back undeliverable. Ive tried sending from different email address too. odd.

It has bumpers now but they have holes from rust. I didnt know this stuff was fixable.
