Linked to this site over the weekend from Fairlane Club of America and I think I am hooked. I have a 62 Fairlane 4DR (2 DRs too many! ) with tiny little 221 V8. It's been in the family for it's entire life, was my Sisters first car in the mid 70's, mine since 86. I painted in once in 86 and drove it off and on until about 91. Have not had it on the road since those Nevada plates were new! (See Album) Been busy with other things, lazy mostly. I am doing a ground up rebuild/upgrade but no trailer queen here. I intend to drive it! Hope to learn a lot from this Forum and eventually contribute in a meaningfull way! Any body with any ideas for old Fairlane, bring it on!
Welcome from North Texas! Looks like a cool little ride you got, good luck with it. The best advice is to do what makes you happy with the car, you are the owner and you are spending your money on it. And by the way, the extra doors just make it easier to take friends and family with you on runs.
I wish it was a Thunderbolt! Actually, thinking about painting it Silver, but the wife wants a darker blue. Can't decide.
I figure the extra doors makes it a grown up hot rod when Im done! Most of my friends have back problems anyway. Looking at a new front suspension from Fatman.
Have not posted in a while. To date I have stripped the car, bead blasted, and primered it. Cut out the shock towers, installed RC Motor sports coil over front and crossmember for the 4.6 mod motor. Had to modify the motor mount, got that done today. Going to start tomorrow on getting the radiator/ condensor figured out. Plan to go with the RC Motorsports rear coil over set up. Updated pictures in my album.
Welcome, keep the progress coming and listen to your wife on color, on less you like sleeping in the garage. He He
