[ QUOTE ] Would you say he was too tall, or just tall? [/ QUOTE ] Yep, too-tall. Sam. p.s. The injection is on and it looks *****en'!
Pat Gahnal is like **** Clark, he doesn't age. He shot a feature on my Dads 40 Chevy in 1975, and he still looks the same. Dean
Alright! An honor without a doubt. Bet he also dug your Cad powered shop truck. Met him at the 1989 KKOA Davenport Ia. Laid back and very humble. This has to be one of your major highlight's in gear-head land!
Great! Pat´s writing in magazines brings them to another level. More of Pat in the magazines! Ever since his Street Rodder days in the 70´s he has been may favorite writer and source for inspiration for my own writing.
Too tall for what? A 8 inch chop and channel on a 3 window, probably. For having a great view in a crowd, no.
A real highlight for me was meeting too tall Ganahl and talking with him a couple of hours at the KKOA Spectacular in Kansas a few years ago. He had driven his cool effie out from CA and he let me snoop all over it for ideas.
Congratulations. What's he doing now anyway, just free-lance stuff? R and C was never the same after he left... got to meet him in '94 (damn, was that really 10 years ago?), but I was about drunk and sure I babbled on incoherently...super nice guy. One of a kind, that's for sure. Brian
Met him in Columbus one year and he had copys of Rodder's Journal on a table (back issues) They were for sale at $10-$12 apiece. If you bought one he would sign it. A**** the issues were several of #1-#4. I talked to him for a few minutes and said I'd be back to get a few issues before the event was over. Guess who didn't return, and guess who still doesn't have issues #1-#4? At the time it didn't seem like a big deal they would always have back issues, right? Frank
Hey Sam..thats cool.Pat is one of my fav. hotrod writer/historians....nice garage too buddy......but you need art
He's said in an editorial somewhere once that he doesn't really shoot many photos for TRJ, ****an does most of that. He has been doing some stuff in Hot Rod lately though.
Sam your one sick dude, do you wax the garage floor? I've never seen that much floor at one time in my 1500 ft shop haha
Sam, congrat's. That must be a good feeling. 1994/5/? Americruise, Lincoln,Ne. We were sitting in the shade when this tall guy comes down the street, stops, circles my old Henry-J. I got up to see what he thought about it. He said, "I saw this car at the Nostalgia Drags in Tulsa in 1985." IMO he was GOD for remembering MY car out of the thousands he see's every year. Made me feel good. He has been a hero of mine for many, many years. Can't wait to see your car in the mag. That shot of yours is awesome. McCray
I would say he is A tall P.G, power glide. Cool dude, saw him at paso years ago, wish he was takin a pic of my car. Cangrats ...
The injectors are just sitting on the car, Root. We'll have them running soon. Pat took the Enderle set-up to Bob McCray (sp?) for us 'cause he thought the car would look better for the article with them on it (he's right)... had to spend money, but it came back with flowed injectors, new hoses, new injectors, pills, holder, barrel valve, and pump... with the barrel valve leak down tested and set up (I'll check it again as well as the ****erfly air gaps) and ready to bolt on a go. Originally, David Fryburgers saw the digger on the net and contacted me, interested in doing a story on it for Hot Rod. Rick Amado came up and took some awesome pics of the car... and then Pat called and said he was commisioned to do the story. Pat wanted some pics of it in the garage... and the rest? Well, even I'll have to hit the news stand to see what the article turns out like. FWIW, this is like a dream... I never imagined that the dude that brought back R&C would ever write a story on something I had a hand in doing... it isn't any kind of feather in my cap... rather a kudos to the three guys that met every Wed night... from 7pm to 11... to build this thing. It's not because of me... or because we posess any single attribute... it's because we worked as a team. Nothing would make me more excited than to see a group of three or four guys from the HAMB get togetrher on Wednesday nights and build something like this... Don't do it for the fame or fortune... do it for the ****ing rush you'll get when you let go of the ****** brake for the first time. Sam.

[/ QUOTE ] You hit it on the head there,Sam.Start building for fame and you're sellin' out like those bozos on tv.In you guys' case the recognition is just icing on the cake.Hope that rush is very, very real at the strip! Even though my '26 T/500 Caddy is not in your league, the 1.54 60' times and 10.90@122 gives me a rush every time I take it out.Congrats... Chicken
Samiyam, about a month ago my girlfriend said to me if you could meet any famous person, who would it be? I thought for a minute and said "Pat Ganahl". I realize he's not a celebrity in the conventional sense, but in my world he's a big deal.
Well said Sam, I can't imagine doing anything just for the sake of recognition. You've done it the right way, an idea, a little money, some pals to help, a truck load of dedication. The recognition is just a little frosting on the cake, and well deserved. I can't wait to see if in print. Score one for the little guys. Frank
Sam, I know we have been plagued with problems on ours but trust me.....once you go to the injection, you'll never want another carbed engine. The throttle response is much better. We are taking ours out today in front of the house for a little..."test and tune". Pictures at 11.
