Does anyone run an original crab style original dizzy for flathead (mine is a 1943) converted with a petronix electronic convertion kit????

I want to upgrade my ignition systme on the flaty abd want to go electronic, but don't really like the look of the Mallory.

That is why I was thinking to get my original converted.

    Are they still reliable???

Yes, I run a crab style distributor on my 59ab flat head. It has the pertronix electronic module and mechanical advance (only). I got it from a place in Texas (I think). It works great. If you are interested, PM me and I will dig out the receipt and send you the contact info.

Call Petronix direct and tell them what you want to do. They will refer you the the older gentleman in Texas who makes the kit for a crab distributor. He is a great guy - [lan on talking for 30 minutes or so.

Tom T is right - the dealer is called The Pit Stop in Gary Texas. The owner is Henry Downing and his phone number is 903-685-2531. Email is www.ThePitStopGary.com. I paid $115 for the kit a couple years ago. The only thing to watch out for is the coil resistence has to be 1.5 ohms for a 12v system. It uses Petronics T.P.S.-3248F module which is lobe sensing. Hopefully Henry is still there as he was older with some medical problems.
    Good luck
