OK.. I am getting my hands on two vehicles but to be honest, I don't know what they are. The truck I am probably just going to sell as it is way beyond my talent level but, I would like to keep the panel wagon because it is in pretty good shape and pretty complete. I don't know what it is however... Fire away.. <<< The pickup truck>>> <<< The panel wagon>>>
So the panel is a 57 Ford? OK cool.. A hood should not be too hard to find for that.. I would imagine that the 57 pickup truck would be the same as the panel?
The seller (or, giver in this case) has the paperwork "somewhere". He is an old custom guy that I have known since I was a small child. He is a friend of my dads. Old chop tops and stuff.. I will post pix a bit later. Anyway, he just turned 70 so he has decided to sell a bunch of his stuff. Some is HAMB-worthy and others are more street roddish like a 64 Buick that I put on craigs. Still more is a 1990 IROC Z (Can I even say that here?). In any case, I was taking pix of the Buick and a 61 Caddy limo and I asked him about thses two. If he doesn't have the paperwork, I have no doubt that he can get new papers.
Yeah but the panels hood is rotted beyond repair in the front. It also needa a drivers door which apperantly got hit by a bus or something.
Here is one of the merc chops that he is working on. When I was there today, he was actuallt doing the chrome with a grinder. old school. By digitalbill, shot with COOLPIX L18 at 2009-02-12
Mudslinger is right, the pickup is a '51 or '52. If you look close you can see the teeth on the grill.
Of course, it's completely the wrong body style to be a '53, but I suppose with enough cutting someone could stuff a '53 grille into a '48-'52 pickup. I should have quoted the post where the person said it was a '53, since they've since edited their comment to remove the reference.
Any hood from '57 to '60 (can't remember for sure, but the end of that body run, anyway) will fit the panel. '57 is the best looking, but they all fit. Not sure about the door but I think it's the same as '57-'60 pickup also. rich
I am gonna get a few more pix of the truck with as many details as possible and then put it in the "for sale" section but, I will PM you as soon as I put it up. Right now, I don't even know how complete it is... As far as the price, all I can say is "not much"
hit me up as well when the truck hits the classifieds... If you could, get some better pic.s and post them on here or on photobucket. I would need some detailed photo's of the bed.... truck is def. 51 or 52. If the panel has been hit by a bus, you may want to check out the frame before gettin too many new doors or hoods. best of luck with all of it
the 51 or 52 F1 has some good looking hard to find parts. It is also a 5 star cab, has the stainless steel surround on the windshield and back window. The s.s. on the back window is unusual, I don't recall seeing that on 5 star cabs but I may be wrong. It may well be worth putting back together but if nothing else it is a nice parts truck.
Yup, almost all the front sheetmetal on those trucks interchanged with the panels, only differences (other than hoods) were the 57/58 and the 59/60 fenders, just up by the parking lights though. And he's right, the 57/58 hood looks a lot better than the other hoods.
I was being a bit sarcastic with the bus comment but, knowing how think the steel is on these things, I figured that something bigger then a Civic gave it a whack. By digitalbill
