There are already three seperate threads on this board that all of these pics should be added to, they are all approaching or over 100 pages each. Search a little and you will find that this is well on its way already. You will find a ton of pics you will like under vintage sprint car, historic stock car, and vintage modified threads.

Lakewood Speedway was one of the most famous dirt tracks in the southeast. It was a mile oval with a lake in the infield.

The famous 1st turn @ Atlanta's legendary Lakewood Speedway .......

Here's a car that belonded to one of the early, early legends of NASCAR, Gober Sosebee (First name pronounced GO-ber). Born in Dawsonville, Georgia, Sosebee won Daytona in 1949, 1950, and 1951.

Here's Gober in action at Daytona when the race was run on the beach.

Here's a cool aerial photo of the Daytona race course before the current facility was built.

Man, those were the days .....

By the way, this is part of the same stretch where LSR runs were being made long before Bonneville. This is the place where, in 1905, Arthur McDonald broke Henry Ford's land speed record. Later on, Sir Malcolm Campbell achieved the record there in 1928 with a speed of 206.95 mpg.
