Not sure if Olds is the same, but Pontiac puts the cubic inch of the motor cast into the block under the heads...

That is a feedback quadrajet, in front of the throttle linkage there is a plug for the TPS and on top on the right front there is a plug for the mixture control solenoid. This system requires an ECM to control the mixture and timing. The mixture solenoid duty cycles the primary metering rods to control A/F ratio. The intake also has teh additional temp sensor for this system. If the carb is origional to the engine, think early to mid 80's 307. The distributor is from an earlier engine (vac advance can).

The intake manifold on a 455 is freakishly wide, that does not look like one.

I say Olds 307 as well. I'll bet the aluminum looking corrosion on the intake runners in the pics is because it has a factory aluminum intake. If that engine is healthy it would run pretty good with a non feedback Qjet and early HEI. I ran an '83 with the same intake in a '66 something rather. Ran strong and never missed a beat.

If it has number cast on the heads (over the exhaust), its a small block Olds.
If it has a letter, its a big block, i.e. 400,425,455.
