So here we go. i am brand new to this so bare with i.

i'm looking to drop the front of my '66 f100.
the suspention is all stock at present save 3" drop blocks in the rear.
i don't like the gheto look, looks to much like the new airbaged trucks with nose up.

i wana drop the front 3-5" and wana know how to do it cheeeeeep.
(seeing as i only spent $40 to do the rear)
    any sugestions?!?!

i don't want to bag it, and i'd rather not put a front clip on it. what says you?!?!

    thank you.

hey man, Ive got a 65... unfortunately their arent alot of ways to do what your out to do.

the primary way and crowned the best way by most... are the DJM drop beams.. but cheap they are not. You would be looking at about 500 for the beams and some extra cash for new kingpins and what not.

the other ways are the front clip, and frame swaps.

Air bags and such have been done on the twin I beam.. but from what Ive seen they are sorta hack jobs.... and often get criticized for not being safe.

Too date I havent found anyone that will lower the stock beams... which would be my choice if it were out there. but no one does the twin beams.

Believe it or not... a guy actually put a set of gabriel hi jackers on the front of his truck... removed the front springs.. and he had a nice ride height.. but those hi jackers are not meant to support the weight of the vehicle like that... and it is bound to cause all kinda issues with the alignment. and is clearly unsafe.

hate to bring ya down! but ive been in the same boat for a year. lol.
good luck man. let me know what you find.

yeah, ive been studying this for awhile.. and to me.. some may disagree..and likely will... the djm drop beams and kit look kinda cheap and I dont feel comfortable driving 70 with so so quality parts... Those stock beams are some of the toughest suspension ever made. It just doesnt really look that cool!

ya, that's why i wana keep it as close to stock as i can... well i guess worst case i could always take the blocks out and set her back up to stock...

what about cuting or heating springs?

Well, you will get mixed responses on that.. I think that you can probably get away with 1 coil or so.. but the consensus so far is that heating the springs is a bad idea...

if you cut the coils your going to need to talk to your front end man.. my guy here says he can bend the beams and cut a coil and lower the front a little bit... but I may experience some clearance issues...

this would be the cheaper route... maybe a 150 bucks for your frontend man to do that... but the results will be small. maybe an inch or more.

just make sure you talk to the front end man.. because this will cause camber issues.

I've been running drop beams for about 12 years with no problems. I'd say the cost of the beams and other parts would be worth it as opposed to the work in doing a front clip. Cutting the coils will work to, and it doesn't mess with the suspension too much. I ran with cut coils for a few years before the drop beams and never had trouble. The ride was a little rougher, but it is a pickup. Only cut a quarter at a time, I think I had only 1/2 cut and it dropped about 2 or 3 inches. If you cut to much, coils from a 1/2 ton up into the 90's will work. Good luck.
