Anyone have a part # For a 49-51 merc master cylinder that I can give the local Napa dealer? Thanks all. -stick
Hey Stick, Arn't the Mercury masters for those years still a single res.? Good time to dump that *****, no? S****ey devils C.C.
Rumor has it Hyster Fork lift used the same one??? Mine came in a new box, but the seller tore off all the names and numbers!............OLDBEET
Hey stick, You runnin' drum/drum or disc/drum? Check with Speedway for what will go with what, but look for a master with the outlets on the same side as oem. A master outa a mid 60s Ford drum/drum would be cheap, but you want to match piston size & bore to the weight of a Merc. I'm guessin' 3800-4000 lbs with driver. maybe LTD or 1/2 ton pick up? If ya ain't changed the rubber hoses, both front and rear, maybe now? Cheap insurance? S****ey devils C.C.
49-51 Merc master clys sit inside the frame rail on the driver side, two bolts go thru the side of the cyl to the frame. Not a quick fix to a dual!............OLDBEET
this is the one i used on a merc. worked ok but if you run dual exhaust it gets in the way for the simple exhaust route. if you knock some holes through the X members you can leave it where its supposed to bolt. i had to do some modifications to the swing set to make it clear. heres the link to it http://www.mpbrakes.com/products/product-detail.cfm?product_id=561
I found a new one on ebay. Now I need wheel cylinders. and possibly shoes. Are there over the counter parts that will work and if so what part #. Thanks all. -stick
yo bump I bought all my stuff at autozone. it took a few days to get the cylinders but they had the shoes. also I bought my rubber brake lines from napa, auto zones where too short. If you need some help let me know I think I paid about 120 tops for everything. also about the dual master let me know if you go this route because I want to do this in my merc for saftey reasons. plus I wanna lend a helping hand just to see how to do mine = )
hey,i bought my wheel cylinders and brake shoes at napa....just make sure they get you merc shoes and not ford. The merc shoes are bigger and not interchangeable. I need a new master cylinder , myself...i'm still looking, i don't want to pay 150.00
