I'm in the process of painting the block and oil pan on a Cad 500 motor. I've cleaned and primed it and would like to find a can of the correct color of Cadillac blue without having to order it off of the web. Do any of you folks know if one of the chain parts stores might have the correct color? I checked at Advance Auto this evening and they had what they called "GM Blue" but its much darker than the old style Caddy blue (if the cap color is accurate). Thanks for any help.
try ford blue. here's light and dark krylon. early cad blue is different, but later is more like ford blue. i need some of the early stuff.
You're kind of hosed if you don't want to go mail order. I haven't had any luck finding the Caddy dark blue at the local parts houses. You might try calling a few of the machine shops in your town and see if they have any ideas. I ended up painting mine Ford blue. I figured since it was going in a 1949 F1 that it would be ok. Good luck Bobby
I just painted my 500 caddy and checked quite a few stores around me for the correct blue and nobody had it. I would have had to order it. I ended up using the ford blue, its a shade lighter blue than the caddy blue.
I think O'reilys can mix you about any color you want if you have something they can scan and color match and they used to be able to put it in an aerosol can for you but have'nt checked in awhile Jeff

There is a paint supplier in N.E. Ohio, Permiere Paints that matches your paint and puts it in rattle cans. I am sure some of these will do the same. Take a part with "good" paint on it that you are trying to match that way it will match the old faded paint on the rest of the engine. these are the ppg suppliers in the area per PPG's web site: NEW SEARCH NAME, ADDRESS AND PHONE: A.J. Bill Hirsch carries it in both quarts and spray cans http://www.hirschauto.com/departments.asp?dept=2 Gary
Many body shop suppliers (PPG, Dupont, etc.) can match your color and put it in spray cans for you. Mike
