    To quote James Taylor:

"It doesn't even have heat. Slows it down."

I definitely run a heater. The trip to St. Paul MN this weekend would have been a LOT less fun without it.

if you run a second 6 volt motor or another 6 volt load with it wired in series then the voltage will drop by half.

Some cool looking heaters and I like to be comfy too, but I cheat !!! I use an electric vest just like I do when I'm on my BMW motorcycle. When the core is warm, all the rest seems to follow.....

ironic, but i've always felt that if you have a windshield, it's nice to have a heater-- because fogged up windshields ****.

that said, if you've got a roadster with no windshield--- no heater needed.

I had a heater in my '34 truck -- not a spiffy looking one like yours, just a no-name generic thing. I didn't use it often, but it sure felt good on the few occasions I needed it.

My car has no heater, no turn signals and no power goddies of any kind.
It has wipers but they were standard equipment. The only option it has is tinted gl*** and it is a 1956.

I have the heater shown below sitting on the shelf. Was going to put it on Ebay but decided to hold out for now.

  8. you can have yours re-worked at a electrical rebuilder shop or if it's sorta standard you can get a replacement 12v (and maybe have to modify a little). go to Baums Autosupply in mission viejo and talk to Bob (tell him Dan sent you). he has the 4 seasons book with dimensions. i'm putting one in my '47 (when i get time ) but the '47 has to be the exact size to i'm modifying the case. i like the round heaters but i think it would be hard to get the core redone.

  9. I've got an extra under-seat heater left over from my old 40 Pontiac. It's going under my Roadster seat...

  10. In this neck of the woods a heater is a good plan. It was in the 20's and snowing a few days ago. I've driven my 40 Merc in below freezing & sub zero weather. I also used to ride my bike in 20 degree weather when I was young and tuff or just dumb.:D Age changes you perspective.;)

The elbow fitting in the front of this intake is the cleanest way to cut off the coolant in the summer time. It is a cut off valve. The T shaped valve handle is cut off in this picture but you can get the idea. I see them at flea markets and they are probably available on Ebay. In the 50s it was not uncommon to see 1/2" plumbing gate valves spliced into the heater hoses but not very appealing.:D

we have hard freezes here the heater is a needed item. I was going to say to turn the heat valve on and off from in the car, find a vintage looking choke knob and cable, then use a spherical ball end on the valve attached to the cable,

I did not think it got cold enough in southern California for a heater,I have seen a few older vehicles that came out of that part of the country with no heaters from the factory. You need a heater in Ohio but I still have not installed one in my 37 Chevy p/u as it does not get driven much when its cold and all my other vehicles have a heater.
