Nice stuff guys... as ever ! I've finished my 59 skyliner this week I've tried to give her the look of a late 50's kustom, as if she was customized as new . Focus is not on the body mods, but on the paint ! Just a little shave and a panel job inspired by the work of the king Larry Watson I had a lot of fun, trying to duplicate some of the trend of that area like chrome tape on the top, scalloped dummys, and plastic tailites with bullets Moderate lowering, handmade lake pipes and 59 Lancers hubcaps complete the look... interior is very white roll and pleats ... Hope ya like Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
Paintcan54, I'll probably stop in at Big Boys Hobbies tomorrow, It's my day off and I'll be near there anyway
Nice selection, guys. Especially nice paint on Zed's Skyliner. We haven't had a model shop in our town (25,000+) for years, and the only toy shop has a measly selection of modern cars and some 'planes. There was a spe******t shop about 10 miles away, but they stopped doing kits and just stock model railway and R/C stuff now. I guess online shopping has taken away a lot of their business, but now it seems online is the only option, other than stalls at some of the swap meets and car shows. Seeing the big-scale T prompts me to ask if there is a source for 1/8th scale '34 17" or '35 16" Ford wires and appropriate tyres?
you guys are killing me with all theses cool builds. 2 years ago i gave my models and parts away (kick myself now) so, now I'm ebay buying them up, i thinks i bought 30 kits last month.
built this a while back, chopped the top, the doors and hood open but i cant find the pic with them open.
Zed, the 59 needs to be done in 1:1. That is spot on for the era. I'd love to do my 59 buick in similar style in 1:1. Nice work on all of the models guys
the dented up beater are nice. cool. next time a I want to toss one across the room I'll take the lighter to it instead. Zed, wow. that paint is fantastic! what paint do you use? airbrush I'd guess? I really want to to a 'simple' scallop job sometime, I'll have to see if I can do it with spray cans.
I cannot begin to compare to the skill of you guys, these builds are amazing!! I have been out of the model thing for 10 plus years, but since seeing a "Sunday" thread. I dug out the box of unbuilt kits. Been working on a large scale 65 g***er stang and took a break to knock together a ****py proshop woody. I needed some surfboards and kit ones ****, so, since I do resin cast shifter balls, I carved up a board and made a mold and...Ba da bing!!.. I like the boards better than the woody! The sharkbite is my favorite!!! Also added a little photo chop magic for when I list some boards on the evilbay!! Dave
a little info on the 32 sedan delivery. what kit is that, wheels, tires? as far as wal-mart and the glue, shoot i haven't used model glue in years. super glue is the way i go.but i guess for the younger builders they need the regular model glue.....i guess. really nice cars guys, all of them
man I have a.d.d bad and cant sit still for models let alone the caliber that is shown here.....congrats
Thanks everybody for the cool comments on my liner I use automotive paint from touch up pencils, with an airbrush . It's not that hard, but i think airbrush is the key, because coats are thin ... you can see how i did it here : http://public.fotki.com/Zedskustoms/my-models/kustoms/59-ford-watson-style-wip/
Zed...Do you use blue painters tape, or an automotive pin stripe tape to mask? I always had trouble doing nice 2-tones or multiple colors. Clear over afterwards helps, but still...I think I may have laid paint on too thick in past as well...
wOw...everyone who posted a model, thanks! it makes me want to get out and find something to chop up, great work, very cool!
