I went to look at a 54 F-100 this past weekend, the cab corners need replacing and the passenger side lower door panel was rusty, but the rest of the cab and the floors seemed solid. Had typical surface rust in spots on the exterior. The interior was decent, the seat wasn't all torn up or anything like that. The frame was really clean as well, i was actually suprised how solid it was. No motor or trans, (not a big deal, I have a couple of motors already I can use) and the bed isn't included. Guy wants 800 for it. What you all think? I've been looking for a project truck to really delve into, but I'm always so indecisive when it comes to things like this
When I was a kid, those trucks were a dime a dozen. Not so today! I'd snatch it up before someone else does. If you decide later you don't want it, just sell it.
just the advice I needed, thanks guy! I was leaning towards going for it, just needed that last little push
Where is the picture of that truck sitting in you garage at ? Good truck and parts are easy to get for it too ! Could't go wrong for the price . Did you tell him how bad you wanted the truck & it's been your dream truck and all that BS & get it for $500 ! I know you got it cheaper , didn't you ?
New cab corners are readily available, doors are easy to patch, and if you decide to put in a subframe, a Nova or Camaro will match right up.
You'll buy it after flipping through an LMC Truck catalog and seeing that you can buy pretty much anything you need brand new out of there! http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fa/t.aspx ~Jason
Everything you mentioned that needs to be repaired or missing can be easily found new, this vintage Ford truck is the easiest to find reproduction parts for. It's a relatively easy truck to work on.
