Hey Guys and Gals Next Race & Show - Sat. March 14th gates open at 8am - this year we're Lucky to be featuring the ---Standard 1320---Invitational Drag Race---along with our event See Ya There
I am coming again with the coupe since I missed the last 1320 race. Does 1320 sell those shirts I really need one of those.
Hey congrats on getting 1320 to work with you! I have tried to get them to be at my nostalgia event for 5 years. They kept telling me they wanted to do it on their own. well, you did it, more power to you. I'll be attending and looking forward to it. Maybe I'll bring my AWB Tempest. My event is 3 weeks after yours. Good luck to you Steve Barcak www.pontiacheaven.org <DIR>Hosting 11th annual Pontiac Heaven, show, swap, drags, party and all around good time. Looking for that Ol' Shakey Puddin' 55. I just heard from another guy with a 55 Chev that thinks he can beat him. How about a 2 out of 3 Match Race?
I have never heard of any other nostalgia drags since STEPPIN BACK until the SOUTHWEST NOSTALGIA DRAGS.The one you have was called MUSCLE CAR HEAVEN that is probably why.
I'll be there to race for sure! Maybe with my old stand-by '57 Chevy g***er, "Thumper", or maybe with my straight axled '53 Henry J. P.S. applekrate's gig sounds pretty cool also. I reckon I'll be there too!
BTW, We've added the Straight Axle Cl*** ,thinking those kind of cars were popular again and out there. So far, the results have been less than stellar. If you know anyone with a S/A car ,please let them know about this cl***. Also , we are looking for a sponsor for this cl*** .It could be on a permanent basis ,or just a one shot deal...either way. Just let me know if you're interested
WE have our first sponsor for the Straight Axle Cl***. Willie and Jim Wray , of Auto and Truck Spe******t and J&W Transmissions have posted the first $100 bill for us. They are already major sponsors of this event and have been since day one. A huge tip of the sombrero goes out to Willy and The Chief. Here are the rules: Any straight axle car eligible. Street rod, vintage dragster, g***er, original car or pick up truck. Must p*** 1/4 mile tech Bracket race format. 5/10ths full tree with handicap, random pairing , NO DELAY BOXES. Any car entered in one of the other cl***es can run this race for free,...no extra charge Winner and runner up trophy and the $100 award, winner takes all. If any more sponsors come on board, we'll pay R/U and semi's Please support these guys ,and all of our other sponsors.
A Big Thanks to the Wray's for being participating "Major Sponsors" of our event from the beginning. And for throwing in on this new "Straight Axle Eliminator" cl*** we've introduced into our program. I've attached a couple of pics of their cars they will be running at this race. Willie's running the red 69' Camaro with a new mountain motor & the Chief has the 51' Plymouth Suburban, it will be sporting a fresh paint job, new windows and interior - Finally Hey Chief hows that 700R4 coming along for my truck?
Thanks for asking. I have made sure that the track concession will be ready for the kind of turnout we're expecting. They have the usual racetrack menu available . Also ,we'll have our complimentary bottled water, cookies, and muffins at our hospitality area (The Pace Arrow Inn) Of course you're welcome to bring coolers and whatever, (just no gl*** bottles) Oh and try to keep the Barley Pop covered or out of sight! (for you non-racers)
The last race I recieved a few complaints that the track regulars were getting extra time trials, I followed up on this and found out what was going on. Evreyone is supposed to get 3 time trials before eliminations, if you get back in the staging lanes quick you may sneek in 1 or 2 extra. The complaints came mostly from the guys that were in the Time Only lanes, the way it work is the track officials pull all of the time trial lanes for the Trophy - Cash - 1/8 mile brackets first and then if they have the time they go to Time Only lanes. So if you want as many runs as you can get, run the trophy bracket, get back to the staging lane as quick as possible, if you get put out in the first round of eliminations SEE (Mark or myself) were offering a $20 first round buy back or write a T/O on your window and go to the Time Only lanes. By entering in the trophy bracket you'll get more track time and who knows you may end up winning the whole thing, giving your buddies grief and showing off your TROPHY or $CASH$ at the end of the day.
I wouldnt change anything from the last event. I ran the test/tune lane only and made three p***es in just a few hours. The only thing we can do is promote it so we get more real hot rods out there. The car show part gave people another reason to show up.
We're working on getting an ***-kickin' band for our "half-time show", so watch for an announcement soon......
Does "P*** 1/4 mile tech" mean the car has to have the latest NHRA rules roll cages etc.? Or will the nostalgia cl***es run the 1/8th mile? In other words, will a 4-point roll bar do it for roadsters?
Thanks for your reply. The 1/8th mile deal is basically a seat belt and helmet. That's why it's run on the 1/8th. All other cl***es require the safety items for the elapsed time you expect to run. You probably should consult an NHRA rule book, or call the track @ 623-388-0039 for specific instances.
