That's right...Matt and his brother-n-law were riding around in his Bronco, going up a hill and couldn't make it up. So he started to back down and the brake petal went to the floor! He tried to control it the best he could but it turned sideways and rolled about 5 times!!!
He's banged up pretty bad and will need shoulder surgery, but was in good spirits when I talked to him last night. His brother-n-law fractured his hand, got about 12-15 staples in his head(YUK!!!) and is all banged up too!
The Bronco is JUNK! I'm sure he'll part it out to finish Stef's Bronco.
At least he's okay and can live to tell the story!!!!
Stick to driving the Mercury,HA HA HA!!! ON ROAD!!!

Get better soon Matt! Take care buddy.....

  7. **** around and your gunna get hurt! Not judging, that comes from personal experience! Hope they both are all right!

Note to others, when I tell you to put your hand o the roof before undoing that belt, trust me. The headache will be much less that way;)

  10. I'm glad they are going to make it.

I used to 4X4 a bit when younger, and when you cannot make it up, the last thing you do is try to turn, or step on the brake for that matter if you start sliding.

We (more than one of us did this) would let go of the steering wheel and let it go where it was going to. Foot off the brake, in neutral. None of us ever rolled from doing that. No one got hurt. The people that stabbed the brakes went over.

But then again we had brakes, at least an ebrake, for the bottom. We were pulling hills that were almost straight up.

I know some one is going to say that is stupid, etc, but it worked for us.

We did enough other stupid **** to roll over, flip and destroy our jeeps and trucks.

glad they are going to be ok.
i came close to rolling my bronco. sand dune eroded causing a sideways slide. i was able to get the truck pointed downhill just in time. witnesses said the rear tire was off the ground and the truck looked like it was just about to go over.
the hill eroded because some construction company took a few truckloads of sand from the base. i aimed the bronco in the direction of the slide and rode it out. the truck landed hard on it's front bumper and instead of going over, it came back down on the wheels. lucky for me since i wasn't running a top.
broke the battery mount loose and grounded the hot cable against the header. one wild ride.

  19. Sorry to hear our fellow HAMBers got hurt. All of our best wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery. As former 4X4 enthusiast, I have to agree with desertratrodder, let the vehicle roll where it will and you'll be surprised how gentle the ride can be when you are going downhill and backwards.

On a lighter note, I recently spent a little time in the hospital myself and I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had internet access from my bed so I was able to enjoy the HAMB even while gettting an EKG...which made it all a lot more bearable. Thanks again to Ryan and moderators for such an enjoyable site.

hey everybody were ok, thanks for the nice words, my b-n-law is probably gonna get released tomorrow so that is good news, today he was holding his breath to make his breathing monitor flat line screwing around, so he is in good spirits. i look like i have a semaphore turn signal on my shoulder in certain positions and some bruises but WERE ALIVE and that's what counts. got to look at the bronco today and its just gonna get tarped for awhile, definatley going to get to restore Stefs bronco first now:rolleyes: not sure what gave out on the brakes yet. im just gonna kick back for the next few days and rest. im glad i put the roofs on this weekend it took alot of the beating

That is one messed up Bronco.
Good thing you had that roll bar in there.

I use to do some wheeling. When I couldnt make it up, I would stick it in reverse and let the clutch out real quick. But I bet I had my foot on the brakes too. Not sure what I would do if I had no brake pedal.
