Hi, I joined out of curiosity and enjoy seeing others vehicles of all types, I am presently building a 57 Chevy which I did to recreate my earlier days in Rodding. It's painted and being assembled as far as I can progress it myself. Out of necessity I have had to learn all about 57 Chevys so I do all I can to pass that knowledge on as required. I am also into Aero engined cars, so I saw a thread on that which was cool. We also have a Corvette which I realise may not interest anyone here, but we enjoy cruising in it. I also enjoy more than anything, watching the enthusiastic envolvement of guys my age coming back to those vehicles which gave them enjoyment in earlier times.
I love you down under guys, is it true that all of your hot rods need to go through a goverment inspection before you can drive them ??
Yes, but it's not really a problem because the guys heading that department are rodders, have a look at this website http://www.lvvta.co.nz/ It's primarily about safety and came about after a few accidents involving ridiculous engine swaps forced the Government to have the New Zealand Hot Rod Association set up a means of controlling modifications. Another thing we have is annual or six monthly, (depending on build age) inspections covering road worthiness. At this stage, emissions are not a big factor, here but it's coming. Summing it up, build it properly, prove it's done that and you are ok.
