I just bought a 1963 ford fairlane 500. I need to know the stock wheel size, some one put 1. 15 in the back and 2. 14 one in back and one up front and a 13 on the same side of the 15. So it drives like ****. plus it has air shoks and the 14 on the back rubs the quarter bad. plus can any one show me some cool 1963 fiarlane pics?

As I recall (please note the caveat; it's been a long time), some had 13 inch wheels (six cylinders, mostly), and others had 14s.

They came with either 13 or 14 inch wheels. I think the 14 inch wheels look better.

    Hi Troy,

Probably your best bet right now is to find a pair of 15" Ford wheels with the 5x4.5" bolt pattern and put your two 14" rims in the front. Ford Crown Victoria/Mercury Grand Marquis cars are a great example for 15" wheels. You can still find new rims in the the truck of these cars (my '62 Fairlane has two from a 1986 & 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis). I don't know why someone would mix-and-match three wheel sizes on a car? My 1962 Fairlane project came with 14" wheels, while my 1962 Fairlane parts car came with 13" wheels.

    Thanks!

Oh, if you go with Ford Crown Victoria wheels, make sure you buy two that match. Through searching for "new" Crown Vic/Mercury Grand Marquis wheels, I found atleast three different styles.

    Thanks!

One fact, there ain't much clearance between the fenderwell and the wheel on these cars.

you want 14x6 ford steel wheels
you should go to woody's fairlane site, read tffn.net and maybe just maybe join the fairlanes of america club. most all the info is on the web.

The thirteen inch wheels were all that were available (yes, even on the V8 models) in 1963. On mine, the tires rub the upper ball joint with 215R 60's on 14x6 factory steel rims (from a '68 Torino). I've seen others, though, where that combination works.

No - I had a 63 hardtop, white with red stripe, 289 HIPO, 4 speed and this car came with 14 inch wheels (HIPO package?)

You are not correct. They came in both 13 and 14 inch wheels. I currently have a 63 sport coupe with 14 inch wheels. I used to have another one with 13 inch wheels. Both had factory fairlane spinner hub caps unique to the 63 fairlane. I think the difference was the 260 came with 14 inch wheels and the 221 came with 13 inch wheels.

    62-63 13" and 14" were available. 1964 14" became standard.

1963 Fairlane: 14" wheels were standard on station wagons and V8 cars with air conditioning. All others got 13" wheels standard, but for $7.40 could get the 14" wheels. Meteors got 14" only as it did in 1962 also. 1963 also offered the spoke wheel covers for 13" and 14" as an option as well.

Yes, I know that the Hipos and stations wagons had 14's. I did NOT know that the V8 AC cars had 14's. [The owner's manual confirms that this is true.] In fact, I don't think that I've ever seen a '63 with factory AC!

Still, the '68 Fairlane 14x6" wheels do not work on my car.

My 63 sport coupe from texas had factory air. Add on under the dash dealer installed, just like all fords of that vintage. Since I live in MN, I removed it and sold it on eBay. It just got in the way.

I don't think that you had a HiPo 289 package.
    Not in '63.
The largest engine you could get in '63 was 260.

    4-barrell versions are REALLY rare.

13" wheels were standard and 14" were part of the Sports Package.
