The DELUXE Dual Pattern Hurst Shifter...
    where it all started...
    The holy Grail...

This one... NOS, came with a conversion kit for a 57 interceptor ford 3 speed. The logo's and paperwork are priceless... dammit.

Its going in my roadster, but its so damn cool I had to post a pic for those of you that may have never seen one... because honestly... this is the only NOS one I've ever come across. I'm not sure there are many still floating around.

Its the sum of the parts... you know? all these little details that RULE... the **** you s****e and sacrifice to find and pay for... this is what its all about... right here... the **** that makes you feel like twelve years old on christmas. (yeah I know I'm a revved up)

This was the predecessor to the later style shifters we all know and love.

15" handle with the acrylic barrel that is amazing in person- Its cool how crazy it looks... and no I will not feel guilty using this... well... maybe I felt a little guilty when I pulled it all out of the box and pulled the paper clips apart that were holding all the small hardware envelopes... realizing how nobody had ever opened any of this stuff up...

I just need to find the conversion kit for the Lasalle trans and I'm in like flin...

Its so cool to see stuff like this survive 50 YEARS... think about it... fifty years old??? WTF. Its AMAZING.

There is nothing more RAD than that. Speed Equipment and NOS speed parts RULE %#!%$% ALL... Seriously. This pretty much Trumps finding the SP tops...

There I got that out of my system.... check out the pics----->

The box art is the best part...
and the Acrylic... its hard to show but it looks clear from the top- you can only see the color from the sides... crazy- looks like a yo-yo in this pic...

  10. GREAT FIND!!! I had one of those in my Olds powered 54 Chevy. When I first got it the shifter was one of those reverse pattern ones with a ceiling high lever. It was actually a reverse pattern because of the Olds transmission.A friend of mine gave me the Hurst and it worked like a charm. Those things were just about bulletproof;unfortunately the 2-3 shift ****on on the slider gear wasn't.I know exactly what you mean about the knob;fluorescent pink and held on with a screw through the middle.I don't know what type of plastic they were made from but they lasted forever.

Way cool. I love my Hurst Comp Plus, you can rip through the gears and not worry about it. Are you going to sleep with it under your pillow tonight? :D

I got two of those in the mid-70's, still have them, but the carton is different and no shift knob. They are for 55-57 Chevys and work with a bench seat. Never did try to swap over to the straight shift pattern, not sure how it would work. Anybody?

Those "yo-yo" shifters are pretty cool.

  17. Had one in a '57 Ford in '62. It had a white "H" knob on it. They were great for Chevy's back then because they were notorious for jerking the synco rings out. The Hurst had adjustable stops to prevent jerkin' the syncro rings out. Way too cool ..

No doubt about it. George Hurst made great products. I have a couple of Compe***ion Plus 4-speed shifters lying around and an original shop-worn box. I even have a modified "Mystery Shifter" Hurst stick from a 65 GTO 4-speed with a fuzzy Hurst Tee-grip handle mounted on the control valve of my 1976 home-built log splitter.

Finding something like that is the bees knees but to have the original box and instruction packets in as good a shape as that-DAMN! It's like opening a time capsule. Killer find man, I'm jealous. Funny-I have some older autometer gauges I've been saving for our wagon build and dug them out to look at them a while back. It's cool to see the packaging without website address's, zipcodes and all that.
