i'm looking for a radiator for my 54 belair to replace the one my fan ate on sunday. i was gonna go to a pick-a-part but found a nice one on speedway motors. i have a sbc (belly ****on) with a mild cam and your typical performance stuff (edelbrock intake, holley carb blah blah) anyways the radiator i found is 22"by 19" tall and a 2row with 1" tubes. part number is 91734722. so my question is if you were in my shoes would you go with this radiator? thanks oh and i am gonna fix the clearance issue so this wont happen again
I've got a Griffin 19"x22" two row with 1&1/4" tubes in my 5 window truck. I'm running a 327/200-4r combo with the basic performance upgrades also. Mine seems to do OK. I'm only using a 16" electric fan mounted as a puller, with no mechanical fan. It's got up to 220 on a hot day in traffic. A little warm for my taste but it's never puked any coolant. I rarely use my fan unless I'm sitting in traffic or in a drive through.
im just drawn to this one because its 110.00. vs 200+ for all the others. i mean the price tells me somthing has got to be wrong with it.
No don't get it. My cousin got that exact same one for his 54, and now he wants to get a different one. He said is to big and he had to cut alot just to make it fit.
i have done a search. learned alot about cooling systems, and seen some nice setup in other guys rides. but still not sure if this radiator is good. i dont know why the other guy cut so much its onlu about 3/4 of an inch wider? anyone else have helpful advice.. thanks again
I got the speedway 57 v8 rad in my 54 was expensive and I had to switch the mounting bands but it was set up for this rad and it woks good
I'm probably going to use a mustang radiator, some good information and opinion here... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=327828&page=2
