My buddy has a T-bucket he inherited from his Grandfather and it has some spindle mount,12-spoke Halibrandt style wheels on it. Not sure of the size yet,14" or 15",but the spokes are oval instead of round.
    Are they rare?
    What are they worth?

    School me!!!!!

Those are nearly worthless nowadays, but I would give you a hundred dollars for them.Truthfully, they regularly sell on evilbay for anywhere from $600.00 to $1200.00, but I'd still give you a hundred dollars for them.

Those old 12 spoke rims are cool on nostalgia drag cars ,but if your buddy plans on using them on the street and doing a lot of cornering at high speeds, he may want to rethink using them..

They are American 12 spoke. Check on Dave's roadsters.com for the history. I'd guess the $600.00 to $1200.00 would be close. You know where they'll bring the most.

[IMG] These were relatively low priced wheels....... in my 1964 California Speed Sport catalog they retail for $ 52.50 In the same catalog a chrome reverse wheel is listed at $55.00 You can still get a chrome reverse wheel for $110. I wish the wheel companies would see that we need an exact copy of the 15x 3.5 in aluminum.

Performance Machine sold an aluminum 12 spoke for bikes in the 70's. It's identical to the American 12 spoke, except it's aluminum and the hub is machined for a bike, not car spindles. I read somewhere that they were cast from the old American molds, but I don't know for sure.

  12. And PM built them to fit car spindles as well (Ford, maybe Chev, TP, etc.) - came with rotor mounts and all.

The old American 12 spokes had no provision for mounting a brake disk - only a thin hub face to hold the seals. A friend tried to drill out a pair many years ago only to spin the tiny screws out on the first stop.

I may be wrong but I think all the original ones (15" and 18") were Mag only.

As you can see I have fitted rotors form a Honda motorcycle, and the calipers are Wilwoods,

If the wheels have been machined to fit the early Anglia spindles then there will be no way to mount the rotors like this, I hope this helps anyone.

    Thanks Brian

I have a set of 5 spoke American spindlemounts for an Anglia that have rotors mounted on them. They use an aluminum adapter kinda like a hat to bolt them up.

I recently scored a pair of 15" X 4" fitted with rotors and Wildwood calipers and square back Ford spindles off a '32 3w that was being updated from a **** Landy 426 Hemi to a 350 SBC (I actually refered to it as a downgrade:)). I'm kinda planning to use them on my '32 5w that I have a 435 hp 427 Chevy, Doug Nash 5spd, and Franklin QC rear. I've got a couple of ways to go with this car but a mid/late 60's drag theme is the current thinking.

Larry, how is the adapter held on, has it been heated over or bolted on.

We just bought a set of the American Racing magnesium 15" x 3-1/2" spindle mounts for our g***er and paid $750 for them.
Here is a picture of them from when we where polishing them up.

I see Radir wheel is also doing a re-pop of this wheel and also offers a disk brake setup. I see that they are casting them out of aluminum. This is good because aluminum holds it's shine much better then magnesium does.

ET G***er makes a 10 spoke version of that wheel with a bolt up flange so you can mount them to a 5 lug hub like any other wheel. Speedway motors sells them for about $320 ea.

No source, but I'll drag them out and take a picture tonight. This isn't a real heavy duty set up. I think the rotors are around 9" non vented, and the adapters are held on to the wheel with 6 countersunk (something around 1/4") bolts. More of a "legal for the cl***" deal, than a "works really well deal".
