Spindles and hubs for '35 Ford axle

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by sandmountainslim, Feb 19, 2009.

  1. Any suggestions on where to find spindles and hubs for a 1935 Ford Ibeam?
I have searched and all the places I see sell spindles for '37 and up Ford's.
    Any help or links appreciated.

28 to 48 should all fit...

  3. That would be good!
Most sites say "Fits 37-48 Ford axles" so I was ***uming the '35 I have might be different.

    Hi Slim!
Your car is making great progress! I saw the pictures on your other post. The old fashioned trunk on the back looks really neat.

As for the spindles, try Speedway Motors in Nebraska. They have a good website and can have a catalog to you in just a couple of days. Speedway did the ones on my car. The spindles are well made forged pieces. I would reccommend the package deal they have that machines/fits the king pins to the spindles. That is a big help especially if you don't have a machinist locally to help. When they arrive it's a simple matter of pressing them on to the ends of your axle. I did this very job to my car a little over a year ago and have been very pleased with the results.

Good luck on your continued progress!

  6. Thanks Bill,
Appreciate the kind words and I will definately check out Speedway and order a catalogue!

lots of spindles for sale right here in the h.a.m.b. cl***ifieds .....

  8. original `37-`48 Ford spindles are still around , i see them in the cl***ifieds all the time for a lot less than new...and they have built in steering arms, so you can save the cost of buying bolt on arms

  9. Now that would be an option.
I will do a search in the hamb cl***ifieds when I get home. I need to save all the money I can on my project and still remain safe.

You are better off using original forged Ford spindles. It is hard to determine the quality of after market products. Steering, suspension and brake components should be of the best quality available. The FOGGER

  11. I am hoping my spindles are savable but wont know until we tear the thing down and check em. Still gonna need some drums etc so I get decent brakes.
