So where is a good place to get rebuild parts for the chevy 250 engines? All the auto parts places around me tell me im nutz, and the engine doesnt exist... in there computer. I pulled the motor out of a 1977 Nova, and have 3 more laying in the woods (complete cars) so i know im not crazy. As of right now i mainly need a complete gasket kit and an oil pan. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks
The 250 is one of the most common 6's anywhere, find a partsman that is older than a block of cheese and familiar with something other than ricers.
any parts place..they are everywhere. your guy is crackin smoke http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Engi....c0.m245&_trkparms=72:727|65:12|39:1|240:1318
I agree with the above comment. I don't have problems finding the regular parts anywhere. My local NAPA has a250 on a stand just inside the front door. For hot rod parts I would use http://www.cliffordperformance.net/ , Jegs, stovebolt.com, Summitt...there are many.
should be pretty easy to get. shares rod bearing w/ some v8's. most of the gaskets and main bearing intershange with 292's. i have heard of some using 307 pistons if you are looking for a cheaper flat top. places on ebay sell the gasket kits. oil pan is pretty common the 292 ones are a quart larger but same bolt pattern. the 230 and 198 are the same i believe. the nova ones are shaped a little different because of steering. good luck
For inexpensive but decent rebuild pieces check Northern Auto Parts http://www.northernautoparts.com/ProductDetail.cfm?ProductId=646. There are some Ebay stores that sell engine kits for a good price. Always scroll through their feedback and check for what buyers say about similar items from them before ordering though.
Patricks has been really helpful to me, always there to answer a question or find a part: http://www.patricksantiquecars.com/
