Has anyone here ever taken his seminar? Im taking his seminar next month and im wondering what to expect.
You will love it. Not only for the metal shaping, but the work ethic and thought process regarding the subject is worth the trip.
I'm sure Fay already told you this, but you should bring a part to make. Bring something that involves shaping. I've been twice. The first time I made an aluminum track roadster nose. I made the buck and shipped it out, then shipped the nose back and left the buck as firewood. The second time I made a door skin for my 27 T hiboy (a little shape and a lot of edge detail work on the pullmax) and a rolled pan for the same car. The cl*** is well worth the money if you're serious about learning (or improving) metal shaping. Fay's shop isn't fancy like TV shops, but his work is absolutely first cl***. He teaches the cl***es so that people can learn, keep an open mind and be ready to work hard. Joe
As what was mentioned, keep an open mind. What I've encountered along the metalshaping education trail, there will be people that do things a little different than you might do; don't try to educate them, learn from them. There will be a little cl***room and rest will be hands on. You'll love it, but take a project with you. I made a Mullins trailer fender, some low and high crown shaping.
he's bringing his seminar to my school. we were taught how to use most of the tools he uses like the power hammer and english wheel but to be able to learn from fay has some of us pretty damn excited.
WHAT !!! That's so not fair he is going to the wyotech in Wyoming.I knew I should have gone there instead of here in Sacramento !! Hope you learn alot my street rod teacher does nothing but tell us how much we should take his cl*** I wish I had the money for that trip...
