I'm looking to lower my 55 buick special 3 in front and 2 in back. Jamco makes them, but I've also been referred to ESPO springs and things. ESPO doesn't manufacture their own springs, and I have been getting the runaround / can't help you thing from them about finding a spring to do what I want. I'd give up on ESPO, but the springs are about 40% cheaper than Jamco's. Does anyone know of an application that will get me in the ballpark of a 4/3 or 3/2 inch drop for a 54 through 57 Buick ??
Through searching, I have found that a 1979 el camino rear spring would create a 4 inch drop. That's a little farther than I want to go, my little towns streets resemble an off road track. I'd be all for cutting the originals down, if the previous owner hadn't collasped 2 or 3 coils by heating them. anyone have a suggestion ???
Hey Abomb, I don't know if it helps or not but until February 28th, all Jamcos springs are 20% off. The springs for your Buick are $135.96 and the rears are $115.96. Both are Pair prices.
Hell yes it makes a diffference, that's $40 less than I was quoted 3 days ago, from Jamco...... I'll call on Monday, Thanks
I used shorter springs that were stiffer to lower my 53 before I sold it and was happy with the results.
I used the El Camino springs on a 57 Special the car came down 3.25" in the rear. It was a good drop and put the tires in the wheel wells a lot better. Unfortunately I don't have any good pictures of the car. But this one might help. The springs were 90 bux new from the local spring shop.
I have a 55 special 4dr, was replacing with 79 elcamino spings for front and rear or was that only a rear lowering thing and you just cut the front?
