hello to all. my real name is charlie, age 61, grew up with flat head parts to teeth on. like many my age my first ride was a go cart that just kept getting faster. my first car a 1950 ford 239 flat head, alloy heads, hot cam. 2x 2 carberation, 3 speed on the floor. second car a 1953 239 flat head again only the motor was yanked from my wreaked 50. 3rd car a brand new 63 vett z06 optioned car that i kept till 2003. just before the roof price blew up into the sky.it sat in a shipping container for 39 years. 6000 original miles. why the container? Navy,Viet Nam. marrige and a daughter i built many great oldies. my bset one a 36 pontiac 3 window rubble seat car. pulled the straight 8 and gave it a 61 389 motor to do the build i learned a lot from the late pappy hough houf from patterson new jesey. learning from that man you learned what real rodding was all about. if you didn't you had a sore knee cap. hot rods = simple but clean. next was a 348 tri power in to a 56 chevy, then a 58 with a simple 409 swap. a 57 belair with a nice rat block for power. and a ton more. i spent 42 years working as a gas and diesel mechanic. mostly in dealerships such as malcom konner chevy, in new jersey. and many others for ford,gm and a lot of VW. till a back injury forced early retirement, in early 2004. i hold a master near coastal waters, " 200 miles out is near coastal" U.S. Coast Guard licence. so i do enjoy boating also. ran a 48 foot ocean ss part time for 10 years for it's owner. so yes i enjoy sport fishing as much as old cars. right now i don't own any thing old, i drive a modified 07 mustang. but am helping one of your older members building his 28 model a pickup. i don't think i'll be doing a lot of posting, but any one can pick my brains for what they hold. even how to pour a lead con rod bearing. if a four banger or a flat head i'm at home as much as with efi. great site here with a world of old timers like myself. old tin.iron and rock and roll .lets keep it going.
