Gentleman A very happy man I am !!! I am flying tomorrow evening from amsterdam to England to pick up my new pick-up : Driving it back over the weekend 200 miles trough a snowy England, a 4 hour ferry crossing to Belgium and a 150 mile driving home to the Netherlands, I cant wait ........ Fred
Oh, I think you should make a cool shop fabbed half wood, half metal bed for that like they use to do with trucks shipped over to your side of the pond. I think that would be totally perfect for that truck. Not too keen on the flatbed/rollbar thing, but not complaining. It's a cool truck regardless. Congratulations and have fun with it. Welcome to the hamb too.
Interested on how you are going to get that registered in the Netherlands, Rijksdienst voor het Wegverkeer, will have a grand ole time with that one I'm sure.
HR, To my surprise the Dutch RDW ( DMV ) had no trouble with the Hudson, having a united europe these days the RDW has to accept the English technical standard of tech inspection, the car having its full MOT and paperwork up to date so the dutch dmv accepted the car without any tech inspection whatsoever. The checked the paperwork with the car and I have my Dutch registration on the car now !!!! They loved the sound of the 440 engine and asked me how much horsepower there was, I played dumb and sayd : idunno , so he grabbed a book and looked up the engines of 1973 and found 281 HP to be allright, he said "You can't have enough power on paper for the future " one of inspectors had a look in the engine bay and wondered if Hudson had independed suspension in 1946 I told him that Hudson was way ahead of its time, he seemd pleased with the answer and left. They measured up the car and wheels etc. because this beeing the first Hudson pick-up ever to be brought into the Netherlands, so now the have recorded the dimensions of a 1988 Chevy C10 chassis as beeing a 1946 Hudson, I wonder the trouble the next Hudson will have ??? But all in all this time I look at the tech inspectors from the Dutch DMV as beeing my friends. Regards Fred
Bloody nice ride there Fred and I can't wait to see this one cruising the streets. Where in The Netherlands are you from? I'm out in the east by Enschede.
Gefeliciteerd Fred / congratulations with your Dutch registration. Welcome to the HAMB and nice to see it on the road in Holland. I'm from Vlaardingen/Rotterdam by the way
Bob's one of the HAMB glass guys. do you have a photo from the rear? Bob used 4 rear fenders to build two. I never saw it finished
Ya know, I agree with Vicky- take pics of yuor journey and post the story here. I would enjoy it and I know it would be a fascinating read.
The pics & Video s : http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y185/fredsv8shop/1946 Hudson adventure/ Regards Fred
Well that's just too cool. Did the heater work? How many times did someone say "What the hell is that"? One needs to check the posts of hotrodladycrusr on how to do a photo/story. She sets the standard. You've got the pics and I'm sure it would be a hell of a story. Seems like you were stuck behind that van forever. And what kind of a pain in the ass is it to have left hand drive on a right hand drive road? Good story, good ride.
I aint no artist, I do all my customizing in 'paint' haha, but I think you need to put some walls on that back half - kinda like this! nooch
