I haven't been on here for a few days because I have a medical problem. I'm losing the sight in my right eye. It is really frustrating becuse I've been to three doctors and they don't seem to know what is causeing it. I hope what ever it is doesn't hit the other eye. This has been a really bad 2 weeks.:( Roy

Hope it's just a temporary thing that will pass. We'll keep the good thought generators working for you Roy.

    Heal!!

I used to race with a fellah that had that happen, only gradually so he didn't notice right away, till it was too late to save the sight in his bad eye.:(

IIRC it was either a detached retina (complications therof), or some kind of leak by the retina (in, out,).

Hope you find someone that figures it out, quick.

    Good luck and heal fast.

Hope you've seen a eye specialist. I had problems a few years ago and an MD couldn't help. An Opthomologist had the right equipment. Turns out I had a speck of metal in it.

    Roy,
Based on my experience, keep searching for the right doctor with the right diagnosis. I would be an invalid now if I would have stayed with my original Cardiologist.
Like all the other guys here, I'm pulling for you and have faith you will get a correct diagnosis and effective treatment. Just don't settle for anything less.

Roy, Ask the eye doc who he would let work on his eyes. In fact ask any doc that question befor you let anybody work on you. It will pay off in the long run. It sure did for me.

I can't think of anything more demoralizing than losing sight. Except maybe losing hope--and you should still have plenty of hope.

I am the voice of experience here. And this is another vote for continuing to seek out specialists until you get an answer that makes sense, and hopefully a course of action you can follow to make it better. "We don't know" is just an admission of failure. Don't screw around with losers.

Time is of the essence, too. Good specialists have long waiting lists. Get on the lists now and make sure the schedulers know that you're available to appear if there's a sudden cancelation. Then be available.

Nose around the web, too. I have a specialist that's five hours away from home but he's the best in the US--which to me means the best in the world--and I located him on the web. The local specialists I found were idiots. I'd have given up on treatment if all I had were the local bozos.

I'll have a good thought for you. Vaya con Dios.

Roy , Keep trying untill you can get a Retina Specialist (Surgeon)that can see you right away. A detached retina is bad. A torn retina is really bad. A retina torn by more than 50% is 80% unfixable. Age 50-60 it can just happen by itself. Younger usually by a trauma. Boxer, Top Fuel driver ect. I went thru 3 surgerys trying to fix one I had let go. Didn't work out. Last year I had the other one act up and was in surgery in less than 24hrs. That one fixxed alright. If you try to get an appointment and get stalled off ask to talk to the surgeons assistent . Describe the symtoms to them . They will know if it is a retina problem or not. They know the importance of a quick fix. They will get you in. Good luck. If I can help further PM me.

I have seen an Ophthalmologist Thursday, Friday and today Monday I saw two. They say the eye itself is healthy but the optic nerve is inflamed. They didn't say what caused it but they have started me on steriods to bring it down. So I may be blind in one eye but I'll look like Arnold. I am going to my own doctor tomorrow so that will be the 5th doctor I've seen in seven days. The two eye doctors seem to rule out tumor but I'm going to suggest to my own doctor to have an MRI just for peace of mind. I want to thank all of you for all your kind thoughts an words. I had a nice weekend with a birthday party for me at one of our sons house. My daughter made me a cake that looked like a dragstrip with a T roadster that she painted the car the right color and number. She even made a grandstand from butterscotch almond bark and even a timing tower. She had me racing a 35 Ford gasser not another Hamb car but it was a great cake and I was able to get out of my gloom for a while. I know I'll whip this just is going to be deterimination to see it through. :) yeah a smile because I've got to stay on top of this. Roy

It is 4:30 a.m. tuesday and I woke up and looked at the window with my right eye and I could see the outline of the window. I was so excited I came in here and turned on the light and I can see the computor screen with my right eye just can't make out the writting. I can't tell you how good this feels. I feel like going outside and shouting but my neighbors might complain. This is like beating John Force with my Hamb Rail. Oh and all the pain is gone. :D:D:D Roy

I have a great DR. and he called the eye doctor, they talked and came to the conclusion that this is Templer Arterialitis. That is my way spelling not theirs. If you have a history inflammation such as heart attack, diabetes or arthritis then this can hit and most people are blind before it is diagnoised. So here are the things to watch for the eyeball hurts the area around it hurts and your sinus plugs up. Most doctors treat for sinus infection but the pain never goes away. When you vision starts to blur in one or both eyes demand Prednisone at 80mg. I realize this is no health forum but if I could save one persons sight I would keep my mouth shut forever. My vision is still slowly improving but my doctor said I may never get it all back. I would rather lose one of my legs than my eyes. Life is looking better can't wait to start racing again. Thanks again to everyone.:D Roy
