I think that the Bill Clay Z-11 Impala actually had the top severely damaged during the towing mishap and had a new new roof welded on to the body directly after the accident. That is one rough looking car! Looks like its bowed like a banana in the middle. What city, state was Bill Clay out of back then?

 

Bill Clay was from Wichita, Kansas. He raced in all the neighboring states too. I've been told his cars were always rough looking but were fast. There was another Z-11 in Ks belonging to Bill Schultz and Clay always walked away from him in a race. From his notes that I got at his estate auction he really got into his tuning. After trashing the 63 Impala body the Z-11 motor was in a 59 ElCamino for awile.

I agree 1963 just doesn't seem old to me! You know your getting old when you stumble in the bathroom one morning and you look in the mirror, and the first thing you think of is "DAD"!
