All shows have their moments of ****. Some more than others. Some people like some stuff, some don't.
Cars and motorcycles are very individualistic. Thank God they aren't all the same.
What I don't want to see, I just don't look at.

wow that had to be one of the ugliest pick ups ive ever seen ,

  4. Looks like there were a couple of different perceptions of the show.Tommy seemed to ferret out several pretty decent looking machines.I guess that,"Beauty is in the eye of the($7.50) 'beer holder'.":D

I don't know if I would say it ****ed.. but the show is on a downward spiral. last year was weak, this year worse.

definitly not worth the 28 bucks you spend to park and get in. Sacramento was way better

I totally agree that this year's show ****ed! Last year's "Suede Room" made me feel like Jake Blues seeing the light!! I immediately sold my 80K original '51 Buick to finance my '52 Desoto rat rod. My son and I were very excited about going down there this year. What a disappointment!! Lots of cars I have already seen. Didn't get any new ideas except for the "aircraft" interior treatment in that 60's Lincoln Continental. Anybody else see that? And that Buck Rogers PU "The Wedge"?? Lots of work, but why?? Plus I saw it in Sacto last year!!

I thought it was great I got to sit and talk to Gene Wenfield for like an hour with no interuption. Other than that it was pretty weak. How could you ever compare the awesomeness that happend at Sacramento this year to anything else! Also I heard that a couple of the cars including Rick Dores 57 Lincoln was damaged in shipping there was visable damage on the drivers side. How bad does that **** ! He was talking to Art Himsl about a repaint that won't be cheap. Hope the truck drivers Insurance is paid up.also heard a couple of people say that that the Hatfield car was ugly and the show need more caprices and more trucks like the arc audio rig that was out on the main floor? I almost pooped myself !!!

Since I wasn't at the Cow Show, I can't say if it was cool or lame. Three car photo's did stand out to me, the '40 Merc coupe, the '59 Buick and the '32 5/w coupe. The Buck Rogers trunk and the Bobed Tail black truck are odd looking too me. The Cruisin' Nationals in Santa Maria and the Primer Nationals will bring out some great rides.

  11. For no apparent reason, I was always a Cow Palace show-goer...after last year I decided it was the last time I would go. Autorama is a bigger & better show IMHO.

Similar drive time for me also.

Cincinnati's Cavalcade of Customs has been getting stagnant over the last few years as well. I hate going in there and wading through the colored wire loom on bone stock 93 Grand Am's showing off their tricked out rides to find the good rods stuck way over in a corner hidden away. But, if I hadn't gone this year I would have never talked to the nice gentleman who told me about the HAMB.

And, HOLY ****, at the $28 to get into a car show!

Nope ... Eric Zausner's "Zephyr" roadster was completed last year by MOAL COACHBUILDERS ...

From the Press Release for the 9th Annual San Francisco Rod, Custom & Motorcycle Show:

    December 30, 2008:

As with many of Moal's creations, the "Zephyr" integrates elements of American hot rod design with European and early domestic cl***ic coachwork motifs. In this case, some of the most identifiable lines are '34 Ford, by virtue of cowl, grille and shell - but the entire effect transcends specific Ford lineage.

Built for collector-showman Eric Zausner, who is a masterful creator of motoring themes for each of his Moal works (which include the daring Italo-American blood red "Torpedo" roadster and his "Speedway Special" treatment on Ford's eternal '32 roadster), this hot rod features an elongated all-aluminum body, a sleek DuVall windscreen and rakish, exposed nickel-plated header pipes, which flow under a filigree muffler shield.

It's powered by a 425 cu. in. "Nailhead" Buick V8, which delivers big ponies through a GM 350 automatic ******. The very tractable and fast roadster features power rack and pinion steering, torsion bar suspension front and rear and A-arm front suspension from a 1950s Indy car driven by Gordon Schroeder. The "Zephyr" has performed smoothly in the annual California Mille road run. The aluminum top, which like all body components, is shaped by Moal's master metalsmith Jimmy Kilroy, is instantly removable. The dash gauges, instruments and dash panel itself are taken from the American Cord series of the '30s. Brakes are finned Alfa Romeo Grand Prix models and the black wire wheels are by Dayton. The alligator interior is by Ken Nemenic, who has done many of Moal's coachwork creations.

... and here's a few more pics of it culled from the Internet:

Yeah the show wasn't what it once was. But there were a few nice cars. I liked these, the bike is a bike I built, of course it was my favorite bike.
It was kinda weird being at the show since the last couple of years I've always had a car or a bike or both in the suede area down stairs and the last to years I also had a booth down there also. So this year I was just a spectator. It was also weird to see a bike I built in the main hall, but it looked good under all the lights. At least I thought so.

My favorite part of this ride is how he picked his paint color to coordinate with his plug wires.....and missed.
