I had taken my Dragster to a car show at an A&W Root Beer stand which was located on the side of a hill and the parking was on a 45 to 50 Degree angle, I had unloaded my Dragster down on the flat surface street that morning when there was not much traffic , ****t when the show was over and most all of the cars had gone I pulled my truck and flat bed trailor into the A&W parking lot to load up and I started the Dragster and started to back the car up the ramps backwareds as that is the way I carry the dragster on the trailor with the weight on the tung, Wellll the weight of the Dragster on the ramps caused the trailor to pick up the backend of my Dodge 1/2 ton truck which was pointed down Hill and we went rolling down the hill were we promply hit and side swip a van park at the bottom of the parking lot to the tune of 2700.00 repair to my truck and my insurance fix the van talk about feeling stupid that was me. the moral to this is dont load your car on the side of a Hill...NO MATTER WHAT
Yeah, that really blows, but can you imagine someone standing there watching that happen? A backwards, running dragster, a trailer, and a pickup with the rear wheels off the ground rolling through a parking lot.
no no one hurt just embarest and the people that had the van was in eating Dinner so I called the police to came out and make out a report and when they showed up they ask who was Driving I had to say no one was driving and the cop llaugh and said well whose fault was it I told him me and he had to have extra paper just to fill out the report.
wow ..i wouldnt have thought a dragster would have enough weight to lift up your truck like that!..i bet you thought the same eh? freaky..glad you werent hurt..
Yup you get my point !! But what a hell of a way to win a Trophy, I figure that Trophy cost me about 5 or 6 grand. not one of my better days...
what bad luck. @ least onbody got hurt. i once backed a large truck into a car, couldnt see car in mirrors so keeped tryn to go backwards but nothing was happning. not much damage except to the dumb #*^# s nerves who had pulled up behind me and sat there while i backed into her. lol
Same thing happened to a friend of mine unloading a safe on a sloped driveway. Now he always blocks the front wheels of the tow vehicle. Good thing is that noone got hurt. jerry
Damn , that really ****s the BIG one ! At least you are OK and that's what counts ! The cars and van can be fixed .
Thanks for posting this, now I don't feel so bad for doing it myself. Although, I did it on a level driveway.
Well when I got home I made Wheel chocks for the trailor plus I put jackstan each side at the back of the Trailor (2 swivel crank up weld on jackstans from Harbor Freight)so the weight will be on the stands and not pull up on the front of the trailor, I use the 6 ft alum ramps use for a golf cart to load the dragster.and when I have some help with me I have them set in the cab of the truck and motor runing ,in park, with e brake on and foot on brake, so far so good. but as I said before load on flat ground if you can..
I did a similar ride loading a small (D4) cat on a Gooseneck implement trailer, truck was pointed down hill, got the Cat about 1/2 on, and down the hill we went, until the truck rammed into a big oOaktree. Funny, as I recall pushing down on the Cat's brakes didn't slow the ride down one bit. Had a real tough time getting off the Cat, didn't have a tape handy but I think I ****ed up a 6 inch mound.
LoL I know what you mean I first hit the brake and Relizing what I did I jurk it into drive and hammer the gas an the Dragster jump off the trailor but by that time it was to late the damage was done. I had done a burn out off the back of the trailor across the ramps and down onto the black top. the ramps went flying about 20 or 30 feet under the trailor.. I felt like I was on the Dirt Track Again...
I have an irrational fear of having a car roll away on me, so maybe it's just me, but a 50 degree angle? I'd have a hard time standing on ground with a 50 degree angle, there is no car I would park on a hill that steep. Good to hear no one was hurt though.
