Contrary to popular belief, I do work on my car when I get a chance. Here's my new floating grill bar, courtesy of a good friend who gave me the bar because he though it'd look good in my car. Thanks Jimmy, I owe ya one. I've done more welding in 2 days than I have in the last 2 years. And remember kids, if ya can't weld good...weld alot!!! The grill... The under structure... Thanks for looking.
SHUT IT!!!!!! I have a nasty habit of over engineering things. That inner structure should have taken a few hours not 2 days. But, it works.
It looks great.!!! Better a little time spent doing a good job than to hit a big bump and find out is was your grill.
I like it. Is it an Olds or a Chrysler bar? Planning parking lights in the oval housings, or below the headlights like a '49?
I'm not real sure on the Olds/Chrysler thing. It doesn't have any holes filled on the top, so it may be Chry. When it finally goes in for body work, it'll have extended and lightly frenched headlights with the area under the lights gently angled back to the pan. Kind like the Wally Welch merc. Thanks to Rikster for the photo, I love his galleries. Hosted on Fotki
yeah, it's a 55 chrysler new yorker bar, only the New Yorkers had them I believe, 1 in the front and 1 in the back, I used the rear one in my shoebox, I had to shorten and Vee shape it quite a bit.
Very Kool!! I was going to put a Chrysler grill in my Merc I just couldn't find one at the time. Kan't wait to see her cruizing again. Happy Trails, Mick
I don't know. I hope that when it is finally painted, it will be so dark that you won't see anything.
Good lookin'! Got the same bar in my 51.....but yours looks more stable than the wiggly instalation someone did on mine.
