I'm cleaning up a old pair of 39 tail lights and need to figure out what bulb they use. If I remember correctly I've always used 1157s but when I looked at my stock of bulbs I found that 1034s fit just like the 1057s. So what is the difference??

1034's are a little dimmer, not much.i was always told that a 1157 bulb was 11 candlepower on the small element, 57 CP on the large( braking), don't know how true that is, can anyone back me on this?

  4. 1157 are 32/3 cp and 2357 are 40/3 cp. and fit the same socket.

    I'm electrical dumb...is there a 6 volt/12 volt difference in the receptacle?

  6. No, not for these tail light sockets.
