good for you- at least you realize you need to pay your dues to learn and arent a snotty nosed kid who thinks they should make 40 grand a year right out of their tech high school.

    Good luck!

When I learned I did it on my time and for free too (Im sure some of you Boston area guys remember me hanging around your shop as a teenager) . I guess I did OK with it cuz now I do what I love.

True dat. One thing to think about though, I've had PLENTY of young guys working for me over the years. ALL but two of the TWELVE that I've had EXPECTED $20 an hour or more after they'd been with me for about six months. And only TWO of them were really worth that. And they knew they had to EARN that. That roughly means 80% of the youth I've had experience with at my shop didn't seem to know that the first rung on the ladder to success even existed. They had their foot three or four rungs up, so to speak. I would have worked for free for a week or two when I got my first job in a dragster shop to prove my worth. Most willingly. If you got the talent and balls to agree to that one, it'll go a LOOOOOOONG way to showing the boss that you really want to work there.

Good luck man. Listen to all the experience on this board that's giving you advice. We're all speaking from the bosses side of the job you just got, and suggesting ways to keep it, learn a lot, make yourself valuable to the owner and have a good time doing what you love. Remember: as long as you work at a hot rod shop, you don't HAVE to go to work there, you GET to go to work there. :D

The BEST way to kill time is to work it to death.
