what should i do

    so the truck has been up and running for about three weeks now .yesterday i climb under it and do some checking out makeing sure everything is tight and i find the bolts holding the rear trans mount to the trans gone .so i put new ones in and the threads are stripped out

    what do you guys think i should do .

    Helicoil them and put em back in.

    bolts were probably over tightened into aluminum tail shaft.............:confused:
    however, you can helicoil the trans
     
  4. what transmission? did you use the correct bolts? some GM ******s use metric bolts

    i thought helicoil also .and yes thay probly were over tightend

    thats a great question turbo 350 dont know if i used the correct ones or not trans was one of those things that was put in an all nite thrash to get it together
     
  7. early TH350s used 7/16" NC bolts to hold the rubber mount onto the aluminum tailshaft . later th350s used (if i recall correctly) a 10 MM standard pitch bolt......a 3/8" bolt will feel like it screwed into the hole , but is that not correct and will not hold

    thanks 36-3 3/8 bolt is what was in there.Guess i need to get some heli coils

  9. take a look at the threads , they may be ok..the 3/8" bolt doesn't really grip the metric threads so i don't think you stripped them out . double check the 10 mm size, i may be wrong

    edit...the mount holes are not on the tailshaft
