Thanks for posting, Fritz! We all really had a great time, what a blast hangin out with "rockstars" like you and Moriarty! The friends you see, and the new people you meet are the best part of ANY car show, IMHO. I wish we could have met more of you HAMBers out there, like the Reverand Jake. Besides the other car owners, we really didn't have many many folks come up and chat with us. Seemed a lot of the spectators weren't car people. Was I wrong?????
Believe it or not, some only come for the monster trucks and freestyle motorcylces or the bikini team. And then you have your "I only like the kind of car I have" kind of people. Mustang, Late Great Chevy, Chevelle, Tri-Fives, etc. Those kind of folk can't understand why you would want to cut up a perfectly good vehicle in the first place. Although that being said, I once heard a statistic a few years ago, that PER CAPITA Oklahoma has the most custom cars in the nation. That is hot rods, customs, ricers, 4X4's, etc. So there has to be car people somewhere around here. Reverend Jake
Congrats to both car owners/builders. That is some well deserved recognition. I have to agree that a lot of the spectators at indoor car shows aren't car people. Some are there because it kills a few hours on "got the kid" weekend. Some because of the bands or side attractions. I quit going to one of the Portland Oregon shows because of the hundreds of very rude individuals lined up to get a signed poster from some pro wrestler. They didn't care about the cars or take time to look at the cars. Paid the ten or so bucks at the door, drug their cross eyed kids to the line of people waiting for 20 seconds with the pro wrestler and then straight back out the door, with tears in the eyes of the mouth breathing women because they had touched the hand of the guy. You couldn't get into that area of the show to look at the cars or talk to the vendors because of the people and the security people keeping them in line. I still like going to the indoor shows though and will attempt to make one or two in the northwest this year.
